BILL Maher criticized one of ABC’s longest-running television series, The View, and its hosts due to their political takes on the show.
Maher – a comedian and talk show host who runs Real Time with Bill Maher – spoke to Drew Barrymore on his Club Random podcast, where he criticized the all-women hosts.
Those at the helm of The View now are Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Sara Haines, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
” I did [The View] like a year ago. I like everybody,’ he said.
“But I don’t know if they’re really, at this moment, the best advertisement for women.“
Barrymore laughed at the comment.
“It’s a format, that show,” she said.
He claimed he loved Goldberg and Behar in particular, and those were the only two he really knew of the group.
“They say some things that are, like, not helpful, to say, elections.” left-leaning Maher continued.
In June, he criticized the show alongside Republican Rep. Wesley Hunt after a comment Goldberg had made.
“What do you think of Whoopi Goldberg saying: ‘It’s worse to be a Black person in America today than a woman in Iran,” he quizzed the Texas politician, who laughed in response.
When talking about what could get the “Democrats back to sanity,” he said that the party has to “do something about The View.”
“I don’t ever even want to hear Whoopi Goldberg’s conversation about how it’s worse to be Black in America right now,” Hunt responded.
“That’s a bit far.”
The show is currently on its summer hiatus, and will return in September for its 29th season.
But just last week, Rosie O’Donnell, a former host, warned that the show could get cancelled due to President Donald Trump’s disdain for the series.
The View hosts

The View is an American talk show airing on ABC from 11am-12pm EST, Monday through Friday. It features a diverse group of women that discuss the day’s “Hot Topics”, ranging from hard-hitting news to celebrity gossip. The six co-hosts include:
She claimed that The View was under threat of “Trumpism” in a lengthy TikTok post.
“You know what I just read today? ABC is ‘reviewing the liberal bias’ on The View. The VIEW. The show with five women speaking their own opinions – That’s the threat now,” she wrote.
“They say they’re not canceling it– they’re just ‘reviewing the bias.’ Which is code for – we’re gonna cancel it we’re just trying to soften you up first.”
O’Donnell and Trump have both had their fair share of throwing insults at one another over the years.
“They say they want ‘balance.’ But what they mean is silence. Silence anything that doesn’t praise the orange messiah and his golden escalator of lies,” she continued.
“We are in a dictatorship of good lighting.”
Just last month, the White House snapped back at a comment Joy Behar made on The View about Trump’s supposed jealousy of former President Barack Obama.
“The thing about him is he is so jealous of Obama, because Obama is everything that he is not,” she said on the show.
“Trim. Smart. Handsome. Happily married. And can sing Al Green’s song ‘Let’s Stay Together’ better than Al Green.”
The White House swiftly responded to the comment, saying: “Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
“It’s no surprise that The View‘s ratings hit an all-time low last year. She should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump’s historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air.”
