A MIAMI school has received criticism for showing a controversial horror film.

Around 30 minutes of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey was screened to students at The Academy of Innovative Education.

The film received an NR rating in the US due to horror contents involving the once-lovable characters of Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, and Christopher Robin.

A mother who had twins in the class was outraged after the teacher played the movie.

“He didn’t stop the movie, even though there were kids saying, ‘Hey, stop the movie, we don’t want to want this’,” Michelle Diaz said to CBS News Miami.

“I feel completely abandoned by the school,” she said.

Diaz claims her fourth-grade twins are distraught after watching the film.

The principle of the academy, Vera Hersh, said the issue was addressed with the teacher and action has been taken to ensure it won’t happen again.

“Our administration promptly addressed this issue directly with the teacher and has taken appropriate action to ensure the safety and well-being of students,” she said.

“We are actively monitoring the students and our mental health counsellor and principal have already met with those students who have expressed concerns.”
