Bondi Beach terror survivor Vanessa Miller says police hid and physically stopped her from fighting back while gunmen sprayed bullets and her three-year-old daughter was missing in the chaos.
In a harrowing account shared with Australian host Erin Molan, Miller recounted the terrifying moments when she was separated from her daughter, Gigi, amid a terrorist attack at the Bondi foreshore. As gunfire erupted, Miller frantically screamed, “Where is my baby? Where’s my baby?” Despite her pleas, others urged her to remain silent, fearing the shooters might hear her distress.
Miller’s narrative painted a stark image of the chaos, highlighting the presence of two police officers at the scene. One officer was critically injured, while the other remained unscathed but took cover behind a vehicle. “These police officers were hiding behind a car,” Miller stated, expressing her frustration at their inaction. In a desperate attempt to intervene, she reached for the wounded officer’s rifle, hoping to “suppress the terrorists.” However, she was stopped by another officer who firmly told her “no.”
She accused the officers of restraining her while the attack continued unabated. “You are weak. You could have saved so many more people’s lives,” she alleged, claiming the officers merely watched the scene unfold, restraining her in the process. Meanwhile, her daughter Gigi ran alone through the bloodied walkway, until a pregnant woman heroically shielded the child with her own body.
Miller’s emotional testimony has fueled public outrage over the New South Wales police response, with other eyewitnesses corroborating her claims of police inaction. Her words strike a powerful chord: those who held her back, she insists, “have blood on their hands” and must justify why a desperate mother appeared more willing to face the terrorists than the armed officers themselves.
SHOCKING: Bondi survivor Vanessa Miller was separated from her three-year-old daughter and pinned down by gunfire. She told @Erin_Molan that she tried to grab the gun of a critically injured officer to suppress the terrorists, but other officers—rather than returning fire… https://t.co/uaYlh3hQmU pic.twitter.com/CfVdR8fvAj
