AN American tourist has vanished without a trace while on vacation with his wife.

Brian Tarrence, 51, hasn’t been seen after mysteriously leaving his Airbnb rental accommodation in Turks and Caicos on June 25.

He and his wife had landed in the tourist hotspot on June 22 and they were meant to leave the island a week later, as reported by Fox News.

Tarrence had his cellphone and wallet when he left the accommodation at around 3:30am local time, according to private investigator Carl DeFazio.

DeFazio explained that Tarrence and his wife had been enjoying their vacation before going missing.

“That evening, his wife went to bed, and when she woke up, he was gone,” DeFazio said.

Tarrence had been on a boat trip with his wife – just hours before he vanished.

They were celebrating their one-year anniversary, worried brother Mike told TCI Sun.

He last heard from his brother on June 20.

“He has never done anything even remotely close to this,” Mike said.

But, he revealed that his missing brother had suffered from hallucinations.

Cops have since released images of Tarrence leaving the Airbnb on foot.

DeFazio was left bewildered when watching the video of Tarrence leaving the Airbnb.

“That’s a little bizarre in itself,” he told the outlet News12.

“He’s in the middle of town. His wife was sleeping.”

He was last seen in the Grace Bay area of Turks and Caicos.

The US State Department has warned Americans about the risks of traveling to Turks and Caicos.

Most crime takes place on the Providenciales island.

Americans have been urged to avoid traveling with guns and ammunition.

Those found with guns or bullets in their luggage risk a minimum of 12 years in prison.

Tourists are also urged to avoid walking alone and at night, and told not to answer their doors to strangers.

Americans thinking about heading to the islands should buy travel insurance before they fly and take steps to create a contingency plan, according to the State Department.

They are also encouraged to keep tabs on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for any health updates.
