A BRIT tourist has mysteriously vanished in Amsterdam after telling his mates he’d forgotten his passport and walking out of the airport before his flight home.

Ryan Jones, 34, was last seen at Schiphol Airport after he told pals he didn’t have his travel documents and needed to go and retrieve them.

He left the group at 2.17pm on Sunday and made a short phone call to them shortly after – but hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Dutch cops have launched a desperate hunt for Ryan, urging the public to be on the lookout for “a large man, 6’3” tall, possibly wearing a white baseball cap and has a tattoo on his right forearm.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Dutch police immediately.

The Sun has contacted the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office for more information.

The sudden disappearance has sparked fears after a series of troubling cases involving Brits going missing in the Netherlands – some ending in tragedy.

In 2023, 20-year-old Thomas Delafay from Plymouth vanished after being dropped off at a Dutch hospital following what was described as “a psychotic breakdown and hallucinations.”

His body was later discovered in a ditch near the Dijklander hospital in Hoorn, 20 miles north of Amsterdam.

His sister Holly shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, writing: “We will miss you so much, I don’t know what to do with my life now that you’re not in it. I feel so lost without my baby brother.

“You mean the absolute world to me and I’m so lost and broken without you. You’re my best friend. I love you so so much. Fly high and rest easy baby bro.”

Dutch police said their thoughts were with the family and while they were still investigating how Thomas ended up in the ditch, they didn’t believe foul play was involved.

He had been dropped at the hospital after taking drugs at a house party but never went inside – and had no phone, money or passport on him when he disappeared.

Now authorities hope to avoid a similar fate as they scour Amsterdam for any sign of missing Ryan.

It comes after a Brit dad-of-three tragically died just hours after arriving in Benidorm following a “last minute” decision to go on a lads trip.

Joseph McManus, 42, suddenly collapsed on the strip at the Spanish holiday town on Friday.

A Brit groom also died during his stag-do in Benidorm last month.

The 29-year-old dad was celebrating at the Funky Flamingo bar in the Spanish resort when he collapsed.

Meanwhile, in Egypt, a Brit holidaymaker was “nearly burnt alive” in his hotel room when an electric shock zapped through his fillings.

Steve Ellis, 42, was on a ten night getaway at the Coral Sea Imperial Sensatori hotel in Sharm El Sheikh when he was “jolted so hard he flew out of bed”.

The unsuspecting tourist put his hand on the bed-side light and was violently “thrown to the floor”.

He says that he was electrocuted for for around 15 seconds, and has been told by doctors that he “nearly burnt alive”.

The current apparently ran through his teeth fillings, leaving him with a ring-shaped burn.

Steve said: “I’ve got fillings in my mouth so the electric was going up there – it burnt my mouth.

“If I wasn’t able to get myself off the lamp, then I would have burnt alive. I’m pretty lucky.

“A child could have touched the lamp and then they wouldn’t have been so lucky.”
