The dawn of 2026 resembles the beginning of 2025 for the Democrats, as the party remains in pursuit of a strong contender to challenge Donald Trump. Meanwhile, some prominent figures within the party are exploring potential bids for the 2028 presidential race.

One notable figure is Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who stepped down from his 2026 gubernatorial reelection bid in January. His decision followed a tumultuous period marked by poor governance, compounded by allegations of widespread fraud and ensuing investigations.

Additionally, Governor Walz faced criticism for his handling of immigration enforcement during the Trump administration. He controversially labeled ICE agents as Trump’s “modern-day Gestapo” and encouraged activists to shadow and record these officers as they carried out their duties in deporting criminal undocumented immigrants from Minnesota’s streets.

There was also his atrocious mismanagement of the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement operations in the North Star State, where he referred to ICE agents as Trump’s “modern-day Gestapo” and encouraged agitators to follow and film the officers in the course of their duties in removing criminal illegal immigrants off the streets.
