A $4.9 MILLION home listing has gone viral after the wealthy seller used a bizarre tactic to prove the property was in good hands.

Shocked viewers called the pitch a “new way of advertising” that appeals to only the most pompous coastal elites.

The Palo Alto, California, home, which was listed on March 7, caught immediate attention and sparked a flurry of comments on social media for a key detail in the description.

In the listing, the seller wrote, “A legendary home where success is part of its history.

“Since its 2017 rebuild, every owner’s children have gone to Harvard or Stanford, paving the way for even greater achievements.

“Now, it is ready to pass on its extraordinary energy to the next family.”

The 2,722-square-foot, five-bedroom property sits on a tree-lined cul-de-sac and is just an eight-minute drive from the Googleplex, which is Google’s corporate headquarters.

It’s also 12 minutes from Stanford’s main campus and 20 minutes from Meta’s headquarters.

The seller also included pictures inside the property that proudly displayed the Harvard and Stanford degrees framed and hung on the walls.

Reddit users quickly mocked the pitch as “peak Palo Alto,” poking fun at the affluent area’s obsession with academic success and tech-world dominance.

“This is peak Bay Area delusion,” wrote one amused user.

“The realtor knows exactly what they’re doing, playing into that desperate parent FOMO.”

Another person wrote, “Guess my house will be sold as ‘owner has two kids both excelling at community college […] ready to pass on the mediocre energy.”

“I actually saw this listing yesterday and nearly spit out my coffee,” added another

“They put actual diploma photos in the property gallery like the house comes with guaranteed admission packets.”

The listing also caught some attention on X.

“New way of advertising a house for sale,” said one user.

“A legendary home where success is part of its history. Since its 2017 rebuild, every owner’s children have gone to Harvard or Stanford, paving the way for even greater achievements. Now, it is ready to pass on its extraordinary energy to the next family,”

The intial listing stated

“Gotta get the guaranteed written into the purchase contract. My kids don’t get in? $500,000 refund,” added another user.

Critics laughing at the listing later noticed that it was edited following the backlash to read like a more conventional pitch.

Now, the listing focuses on the house’s more traditional selling points, including a spacious primary suite with a wet bar, a dedicated piano room, and a massive 11-foot kitchen island.

However, the seller got the last laugh as the home has been marked as “pending” on Zillow, signaling that an offer had been made, reported Business Insider.

This home, last sold for $4.18 million in 2018, has already increased in value, drawing attention from buyers in the tech-driven area.

Wen Guo Real Estate Group didn’t immediately respond to the request for comment by The U.S. Sun.
