A FIVE-YEAR-OLD girl is one of six victims of a mass shooting in Baltimore, cops have confirmed.
Shots rang out on Spaulding and Queensbury Avenue around 8:46 pm local time on Saturday, with bullets hitting multiple people who were eating outside.
Four men, one woman and the five-year-old girl were all found injured at the scene.
The ages of the adult victims range from 23 to 52.
A 38-year-old man is said to be in a critical condition and was rushed into surgery.
Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley confirmed in a press conference last night that the child was shot in the hand.
“Thankfully, it doesn’t appear that the injury is very serious,” he said.
“One male was shot and is critical. Homicide unit has been notified.”
The other victims were also taken to hospital where they were treated for their injuries and are expected to recover.
Giving the press conference from a residential street, Worley said it appeared the gunman “targeted” a group of individuals who were sitting on the porch to a house.
“It just looked like some people were sitting outside on the porch and up against a vehicle having some crabs and looks like somebody just opened fire,” he said.
When asked if it was a targeted attack, the Commissioner said, “I don’t think you shoot without having a target.
“I don’t know who they were targeting but i’m sure there was somebody who fired these shots that was targeting for somebody.”
With the investigation in its initial stages, cops have few details.
“All we know is there is multiple rounds fired, multiple victims,” the Commissioner said.
“If anyone has any information please call our homicide unit.”
Homicide and detective units are on scene as the investigation continues.
