A SEVENTH suspect has been arrested after a woman was starved and beaten to death after she moved to the US to join a religious group, cops say.

Sehee Cho of South Korea weighed just 70 pounds when her decaying body was found in a car trunk in Atlanta, Georgia.

Investigators believe that Cho moved to the United States in July to join a religious organization called Soldiers of Christ.

The 33-year-old victim was found wrapped in a blanket inside the trunk of a car in front of a spa on September 12.

Police found her body after they got a call about an alarming odor coming from the vehicle.

Investigators identified Eric Hyun, 26, as the person who owned the car Cho was found inside.

He had called his adoptive father to pick him up and take him to the hospital.

Hyun then asked his father to grab an item from his car, leading to Cho’s body being discovered, according to authorities.

Hyun was found at the hospital where he was questioned by police.

Authorities got a search warrant for a home where detectives believe the murder took place.

Hyun was arrested along with five others in connection with the murder, including Juoonhyum Lee, 22; Hyunji Lee, 25, Gawom Lee, 26; Joonho Lee, 26; and Junyeong Lee, 15, for felony murder, false imprisonment, tampering with evidence, and concealing a death.

When questioning suspects, cops learned that some of them identified as members of the Soldiers of Christ religious group.

On October 11, Mihee Lee, a mother of three of the murder suspects, was also charged in connection to Cho’s death.

Investigators believe that Lee and the other suspects kept Cho in her home, where they allegedly beat and denied the victim food until she died.

A bond hearing for Joonho Lee revealed that Cho was dead for almost a month before she was found.

Hyun maintains his innocence and claims that he also was a victim of the religious group.

“He was beaten with a belt in his genitals and face until he was knocked unconscious,” his lawyer, David Boyle, said.

“He was stripped naked and shot with an airsoft gun all over his body, causing over a hundred wounds.”

The lawyer went on to explain how Hyun’s skin was allegedly sanded off of his chest to “indoctrinate him into their religious extremism.”

Boyle believes that Hyun was trying to escape the Lee home and decided to take Cho’s body with him.

He said his client was pressured to send tens of thousands of dollars to South Korea, as well as purchase a home for the group.

“This is just a con [for] the Lee family to take advantage of naïve people,” Boyle said.

“If Eric had not escaped from the Lee’s house, he would have also died.

“Eric Hyun is innocent of these charges and I am confident that he will be cleared of these charges once that investigation is complete.”
