THE fugitive mom who allegedly murdered her disabled six-year-old son and hopped on a one-way flight to India has been captured following a two-year search.
Cindy Rodriguez Singh, 40, was arrested on Wednesday after the death of her child Noel Alvarez landed her on the FBI’s most-wanted list.
Little Noel disappeared from a tiny home in rural Texas outside Fort Worth where he lived with his mom and six of his siblings in November 2022, but he wasn’t reported missing until March 2023.
Everman cops went to the property after getting a wellness check for the boy, and they said Singh dodged questions and claimed Noel was in Mexico with his dad.
Just two days after being interviewed, Singh boarded a plane to India with her husband and six of her children, according to police.
In October 2023, authorities issued a federal arrest warrant for the mom.
On Wednesday, FBI Director Kash Patel announced that Singh had been arrested.
She’s been charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and capital murder of a person under 10 years of age, Patel said in a statement.
The director did not provide any other details on where she was found, but said that she hadn’t been back to the US since flying to India.
The FBI initially offered a $25,000 reward for anyone who had information that could lead to Singh’s capture, but raised it to $250,000 when she was placed on the most-wanted list.
MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE
Investigators contacted Noel’s father in Mexico to ask about Singh’s claims, and he told them that he had no relationship with his son.
Detectives also learned that Singh had applied for passports for all six of her children except for Noel in November 2022, cops previously said.
Detectives still haven’t uncovered the little boy’s body.
Singh’s landlord previously said that he was stunned to hear of Noel’s disappearance as he had only had positive interactions with his tenant.
Charles Parson, who owned the shed where Singh lived with her children, took in the mom nearly a decade before she disappeared.
He said that they met at a grocery store, and she appeared to be going through a tough time, so he offered her help.
She lived in a home at the front of his property before taking over the shed when her family got too big, he told Fox affiliate KDFW in 2023.
HAUNTING HISTORY
Noel had a history of health and developmental issues that included chronic lung disease, pulmonary edema, which is when fluid builds in the lungs, and esotropia, which is when one or more of the eyes is crossed.
He was last seen by family members when his younger twin sisters were born, and witnesses were concerned by his appearance, the FBI said.
Singh had a history of drug and alcohol abuse, and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services had put her children in foster care at one point.
Child protective authorities were the ones who called for a wellness check of the little boy.
In a statement last month, FBI officials vowed to capture Singh and seek justice for the disabled six-year-old.
“None of us will ever forget Noel, and we will continue to put forth all our effort to one day find justice for him,” FBI Dallas Special Agent Pence Kecev said in a statement.
“That will include Cindy Rodriguez Singh being apprehended and returned to the United States so she can answer for her alleged crimes.
“I believe − and I can speak for the investigative team including the state, local, and federal investigators as a unit − that her arrest will play a significant part in locating Noel’s whereabouts.”
Patel said that this is the fourth fugitive on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list to be arrested in the past seven months.
