Riots continue to ravage Los Angeles, with Mexican-flag-waving left-wing agitators assaulting ICE officers, blocking traffic, setting cars on fire, and surrounding a federal detention center. President Donald Trump called in the National Guard on Saturday night, helping to quell some of the violence.
The chaos erupted in opposition to the enforcement of immigration law by the Trump administration, which has sought to prioritize the deportation of convicted criminals. Still, Democrats and their far-left base have decided those are people worth going to bat for, and the results have been predictable.
As RedState reported, California politicians have been no help, with Gov. Gavin Newsom and L.A. Mayor Karen Bass taking the side of the rioters. Perhaps worse, the LAPD put out a statement claiming the riots were “peaceful” and that there had been no “incidents.” Does this look peaceful and without incident to you?

So what was CNN doing during all this? Did their missteps during the 2020 riots provide some clarity of mission and desire to correct their mistakes? Of course, not. Instead, they produced a sequel to the infamous “fiery but mostly peaceful” report, claiming that the riots were “lawful,” but with some “unrest.”

Juliette Kayyem, who Brian Stelter praised as the “best in the business” after her absurd commentary, would go on to cry that Trump’s deployment of the National Guard was “unprecedented” because it lacked the support of the state’s governor, which Newsom refused to offer despite his refusal to use state law enforcement to restore peace. That’s such an easily debunkable lie, given that such deployments have happened without a governor’s consent several times during American history, including during the Civil Rights era.
Of course, you’ll be less than shocked to learn that Kayyem was not so understanding when it came to actual peaceful protesters in Canada opposing COVID mandates. In that case, she demanded their tires be slashed and everyone be arrested. Setting cars on fire and trying to kill ICE agents, though? That’s just a “lawful” protest in her book.

But do you want to know the best part? CNN has an “extremism reporter” named Donie O’Sullivan. You may remember him from his recent interview with Taylor Lorenz, where the two laughed and giggled about the brutal murder of a health insurance CEO. In the past few weeks, left-wingers have murdered two Israeli embassy workers, set elderly Jewish women on fire, and violently rioted in multiple cities.
So has O’Sullivan been hot on the case, given there are so many examples of far-left extremism to choose from lately? No, he’s too busy chasing down the My Pillow guy to ask if he ever gets tired. I’m not kidding.

You know, maybe my headline leaned too much towards clickbait, because on second thought, none of this is unbelievable. This is CNN, and more broadly, this is the mainstream press. They are shameless hacks who will never change. I guess I should thank them since it makes sites like RedState so much more relevant.
