During Friday’s broadcast of “Ceasefire” on C-SPAN, Representative Ro Khanna (D-CA) criticized the Trump administration, likening its actions to those of Russian President Vladimir Putin, by “targeting innocents in the Caribbean.”
Host Dasha Burns addressed the situation, stating, “We’re focusing on Venezuela, where these recent strikes are part of a larger strategy. This week, the president hinted at the possibility of land strikes in Venezuela, which could happen soon. There’s an ongoing tension between the executive and legislative branches about who decides on tariffs and issues of war and peace. Congressman Khanna, how much is Congress being excluded from this discussion concerning Venezuela?”
Khanna responded, “We shouldn’t engage in a war for regime change. The American people elected Trump because he promised to avoid regime change and endless wars.”
He further commented, “Regarding the Secretary of Defense position, I would endorse Representative Bacon for the role.”
Khanna elaborated, “Representative Bacon respects the law and understands the repercussions of attacking innocents in the Caribbean. Such actions might embolden leaders like Xi Jinping or Putin, suggesting that legal norms and rules of war are irrelevant. America operates differently; we adhere to the rules. This isn’t how America conducts itself. We are distinct in our commitment to the Constitution and the rule of law.”
