AN active shooter has stormed a naval base in Florida, sparking a massive response from hundreds of first responders.
Horrifying pictures show cops standing guard at the entrance and exit of Corry Station in Escambia County as they investigate the shooting.
In a statement, the Naval Air Staton Pensacola said, “NAS Pensacola Navy Security Forces and local law enforcement entities are responding to an active shooter situation March 6 onboard Corry Station
“‘Our Security team is responding swiftly and expertly with our local law enforcement partners,” said Capt. Chandra Newman.
“‘Our concern is always the safety and welfare of our service members and their families.’
“Gates to NAS Pensacola and Corry Station areas of operations are closed. More information will be posted to the air station’s social media sites as it becomes available.”
In a X post, the US Navy confirmed that local authorities are responding to an active shooter situation at the base.
“Naval Air Station Pensacola Navy Security Forces and local law enforcement entities are responding to a reported active shooter situation at Corry Station,” the tweet read.
“All gates at Naval Air Station Pensacola and Corry Station are currently closed. This is a developing situation. We will share additional information as it becomes available.”
Two life flight helicopters have arrived at Corry Station to potentially transport patients in need of critical care, as reported by Pensacola New Journal.
Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons came out to speak with reporters on the scene.
Simmons said multiple local authorities responded after receiving multiple reports of hearing three gunshots.
However, after doing a sweep of the building, his team determined there wasn’t an active threat or shooter.
“We’ve done a sweep of the entire building and show no signs of an active shooter,” Simmons told a reporter.
