A NURSE has told how she will be “interviewed under caution” after making a simple mistake with her bins.

Grandma Rachel Cain, 43, was left “flabbergasted” after her Welsh council hauled her in for an absurd meeting.

Flintshire Council told Rachel in a letter that she is required to be “interviewed under caution” on April 2.

The Ewloe resident said she “had the life scared out of me” when she received the letter – all because her bin was “slightly” open.

She told NorthWalesLive: “I went to the depot on Thursday (March 14) to find out what I’m being accused of to be shown two pictures of my bin lid slightly open.

“My recycling was clearly next to the bin and no other rubbish present.”

The care home worker said her rubbish was still inside the black bags, which had not torn.

She said: “This obviously scared the life out of me as I’m a nurse and consider myself a good person.

“The content of the bin was in black bags which were not split or open. How is this a good use of tax payers money? I was absolutely flabbergasted.”

In its letter, Flintshire County Council told Rachel its Environmental Enforcement Section is responsible for prosecution of improper use of waster containers.

The letter says they are investigating an incident of “unlawful depositing of waste”, but Rachel says he bin was only “slightly” open.

On its website, the council say: “A bin that is overflowing due to sacks piled up is…classed as side waste.

“Collection crews will only collect refuse that is presented at the kerbside in a closed wheelie bin. Additional bags or items that are next to the wheelie bin or wheelie bins that are overflowing and the lid cannot fully close will not be collected.”

Flintshire Council has been approached for comment.

Huge bin collection change sees millions of Brits forced to PAY to have their rubbish taken away

A huge bin collection change will see millions of Brits forced to pay £40 to have their rubbish taken away.

Residents living in a dozen council areas have been left fuming over the change to their brown garden waste collections.

Councils are set to roll out an annual fee for the fortnightly pick-up of brown-lidded bins, according to reports.

The decision is part of a scheme that will see residents shelling out a one-time fee to get their bins picked up.

Those participating will receive a bin sticker indicating their participation – while those opting out will return their bins, the council confirmed.

The move means Brits will have to find alternatives for their garden waste.
