A COUPLE has been killed in broad daylight while they were hiking with their two children.
Clinton and Cristen Brink’s remains were discovered on a rural trail and cops are now hunting for their killer.
They had been walking in an area of Devil’s Den State Park in northwest Arkansas on Saturday afternoon when they were killed.
Their young daughters, seven and nine, were with them but they were not injured.
Two children reported an incident to staffers in a visitor center, according to the NBC affiliate KARK-TV.
They said their parents had been attacked, with one being possibly stabbed.
Arkansas State Police received the report of a double homicide at around 2:40pm local time, sparking a manhunt.
But, it wasn’t until around 8:40pm until cops issued a notice to the public about the manhunt, per WBZ.
Police claimed it took time to gather information, speak to witnesses, and for agents to get to the scene.
Cops said the suspect was wearing dark pants and a long-sleeved shirt.
He is being described as a white male with a medium build.
He was wearing a baseball cap, fingerless gloves, and sunglasses, and carrying a black backpack.
The suspect was seen driving toward one of the park’s exits in a black sedan.
He could’ve left the park either via the state highway 170 route, or 220.
Cops believe he may have been driving a Mazda that had its license plate covered with tape.
The moment officers found the bodies was captured on disturbing radio calls between state troopers.
One trooper urged his fellow officer to comb the main trail first, as reported by the Fox affiliate KNWA-TV.
“Main trail, I saw hiking down, I’m asking for help,” the trooper told his colleague.
“Say that again, repeat,” the second officer replied.
“I hear yells calling for help, we’re walking down,” the trooper added.
Officers then relayed that they found two bodies at the scene.
Cops still do not know the motive behind the killings.
Clinton, 43, and Cristen, 41, had recently moved to the town of Prairie Grove, located around 12 miles from the park, from another state.
Dairy Driver Clinton, from California, had previously lived in Montana, according to his Facebook profile.
Cristen shared a picture of herself and Clinton on her Facebook account on May 25 – two months before they were killed.
Cristen graduated from the Miles Community College in Miles, Montana, with an associate degree in nursing in 2022, according to the institution.
GRISLY DEATHS
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the Arkansas governor, vowed that authorities will not rest until the suspect is brought to justice.
She described the deaths of Clinton and Cristen as “horrific.”
Tourists have shared their horror after spotting cops at the scene.
“We’re from Texas so we came in for the weekend and we came up here and there are cop cars all around there,” one woman told the CBS affiliate KTHV-TV.
“We’re a little concerned.”
She recalled how park officials could only tell her law enforcement was responding to an emergency.
Police sealed off an area of the park as part of their probe, while Arkansas State Parks officials have confirmed all trails at Devil’s Den State Park are shut until further notice.
Mike Hagar, of the Arkansas State Police, described the crime as “heinous.”
There are 135 campsites and 17 cabins in Devil’s Den Park.
The park is in a rural location where the terrain is rugged and there is no cellphone service.
Law enforcement teams have beefed up security at the park.
Officials have urged people not to share videos online that could jeopardize their probe.
