Nikki Haley’s son, Nalin, made his television debut on Fox News, where he was warmly praised by the host for his intelligence and autonomy. However, the online audience was less than forgiving, critiquing him as out of touch and hypocritical. Nalin, who pursued a career in finance in the Charlotte area after earning his degree from Villanova University, expressed on the show with Rachel Campos-Duffy that he doubts he’ll ever be able to afford a home. He also mentioned that many of his peers are finding it difficult to secure employment after graduation.
Despite claiming to be relatively successful, Nalin acknowledged feeling the financial strains typical among Generation Z. His comments, however, drew criticism on social media, with some users accusing him of hypocrisy. One user, under the handle @wokeafliberal, commented on the disparity between Haley’s statements and his affluent lifestyle, as depicted on his Instagram, where he appears to lead a life of luxury, complete with high-end travel and a luxurious car.
Images shared by Nalin show him enjoying trips to opulent destinations, dining at places like the Versace Mansion in Miami, indulging in cigars, and driving a BMW. User @JonathonEDavis remarked that Nalin’s feelings of disillusionment did not align with any political party but highlighted genuine concerns. They observed that his remarks reflected a sense of disenfranchisement rather than a specific political stance.
Campos-Duffy also asked Haley what he thinks of the Trump administration introducing the idea of a 50-year mortgage, to which he responded ‘whatever will lower the cost of houses.’ ‘Anything to put American workers first, lower the cost of housing, I think we should absolutely do it,’ Haley told Campos-Duffy. Haley also doubled down on the idea of banning H-1 B visas, which are used by companies to bring foreign workers into the United States.
The large majority of H1B visa holders come from India, the same country that Haley’s maternal grandparents hail from. Asked about his opposition to H-1 B visas, given his background, Haley added that people shouldn’t be surprised, as he has seen what the importation of foreign workers has done to his friends, and that his loyalty is to Americans first.
Some social media voices did seem to commend Haley for speaking up, with X user @KellyLMcCarty telling Haley ‘you’re over the target when both sides come at you,’ and that ‘as a mom (Gen X) of Gen Z daughters (one who is close to your age), I’m seeing the same thing happening to you all.’ ‘They’ll criticize you now, but they’ll have to call you ‘Mr. President’ in the future, and they’ll be lining up begging for jobs for themselves,’ added X user @crucifixwearer.
