Dan Bongino, the Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and former conservative commentator and Secret Service agent, revealed on Wednesday his intention to resign from his position. Bongino shared this announcement via his official X account.

In a related note, on the same day, President Donald Trump was asked to comment on Bongino’s announcement:

The post concludes:

God bless America, and all those who defend Her.

Also on Wednesday, President Donald Trump was asked about the announcement:

The president said:

Dan? Dan did a great job. I think he wants to go back to his show.

When Mr. Bongino accepted the FBI position, he was replaced on his Westwood network radio program by a District of Columbia-based commentator, Vince Coglianese. It’s unclear how easy it would be for Mr. Bongino to return to the airwaves, although his fame and recent high-profile history make it seem likely.

As early as last June, there were some rumors of Dan Bongino’s possible discomfiture with his work at the FBI, as well as rumors of a pending departure, as we reported here at RedState at the time.
