Dave Smith, host of Part of the Problem, didn’t mince words in his recent podcast as he addressed the latest turmoil in the conservative movement surrounding Israel and the late Charlie Kirk.
Smith honed in on Josh Hammer’s public denials and Candace Owens’ bold revelations regarding the ongoing controversy. Central to this was the question of whether Kirk was reconsidering his support for Israel.
Smith began the segment by praising Candace Owens for her clarity and sincerity. He described her as “exceptionally insightful” in managing a complex and emotional situation, noting that her recent period of mourning only intensified her pursuit of truth. Smith highlighted how Candace, despite her grief, was diligently “investigating this issue and seeking the truth,” with a particular focus on the influence exerted by Benjamin Netanyahu and Zionists trying to “steer the narrative.”
The crux of the matter was Candace’s assertion that Kirk was “rethinking his support for Israel,” a statement that Hammer and others vehemently denied, citing Kirk’s much-publicized letter to Netanyahu as proof of his steadfast allegiance. However, Smith revealed a twist: “It’s now confirmed that Josh Hammer was blatantly dishonest when he denied this.” Evidence emerged showing that Hammer was part of a group chat where Kirk had mentioned he might “have no choice but to withdraw support for Israel.”
Smith emphasized, “I’m not exaggerating the significance of this, nor am I downplaying it.” He argued that Hammer has substantial questions to address, particularly since his public denials happened “amidst an active murder investigation.”
Smith’s commentary resonated online, with figures like Clint Russell, Max Blumenthal, and Candace Owens herself amplifying many of his observations—each of whom will be featured for readers along with the video.
Transcript: Dave Smith on Josh Hammer, Candace Owens, and Charlie Kirk
Dave Smith:
I think Candace handled this truly brilliantly.
Dave Smith:
And Candace is no dummy. Let me say that about Candace. And of course there’s been, as I’ve mentioned on the show many times, there’s this very interesting dynamic with her and her show lately where she is, clearly she is mourning. I mean, she is grieving the loss of a close friend and you can feel that on her. And there’s something very visceral about that, but she is also like prosecuting this case and trying to get to the bottom of it. And so what Candace did is she came out and she said that Charlie Kirk was rethinking his support for Israel. Now this is after Benjamin Netanyahu is quoting from the letter that he read to him and all of the Zionists are trying to kind of like control the narrative.
Dave Smith:
“Candace says he was thinking of turning on them. In response to that, all of these people, including Josh Hammer, go out there and they say, that is absolute bullshit. He was never thinking of that. Josh Hammer’s out doing shows saying, we’ll just look at the letter that he wrote to Netanyahu. He was not even thinking of questioning his loyalty toward Israel.”
Dave Smith:
“Okay, we now know, and it’s been confirmed, that Josh Hammer was lying through his fucking teeth when he said that. He was on the group chat where Charlie Kirk straight up said, I’m gonna have no choice but to abandon support for Israel. And so I would just say, like I’m not trying to overplay what we have here, but I’m also not trying to underplay it.”
Dave Smith:
“I’ve met Josh a couple of times, I’ve debated him twice. You got some questions to answer, man. You really gotta answer some questions. You were active, you were lying through your teeth publicly during an active murder investigation.”
Dave Smith:
“Like, now look, that’s not perjury. He wasn’t under oath when he lied about this stuff, but there’s two elements to this. Number one, there was an active murder investigation going on and you’re publicly lying about the information that you know. And number two, supposedly this was your good friend.”
Conclusion
Smith’s commentary shines a harsh light on the mechanisms of denial and narrative control inside conservative politics, especially when the stakes involve Israel and its American advocates. The transcript makes clear: covering up uncomfortable truths with public denials, especially in tense moments surrounding loss and scandal, damages credibility and trust. Whether Hammer will respond directly remains to be seen, but the moment has become a rallying point for honesty—and a warning against protecting friends at the expense of truth and justice.
