In a recent turn of events, Michael Douglas, Davina McCall’s newlywed husband, didn’t shy away from expressing his discontent with a hotel room he found “terrible” during a Thursday night stay. This social media commentary came shortly after the couple’s secret wedding ceremony.

Despite the excitement surrounding their recent nuptials, Douglas, a professional hairdresser, returned promptly to his busy work schedule. During an Instagram live session that evening, he candidly shared his dissatisfaction with the accommodations he encountered.

The marriage between McCall, a well-known television presenter, and Douglas was revealed on Wednesday. They celebrated their union in an intimate ceremony last Friday, just under three months following their engagement in the picturesque setting of Ibiza. The event was graced by those closest to the couple, marking a significant milestone in their relationship.

Post-wedding, Douglas immediately resumed his professional commitments. He styled actress Miranda Hart for her appearance on “The One Show” before traveling to Cambridge for another assignment. It was here, in Cambridge, that he found himself less than thrilled with his overnight lodgings.

In a brief Instagram clip, Douglas greeted his followers with, “Hello, this is the 11th advent live on the 11th of December. How are you all? It’s just a quick one tonight; I’m in a hotel room tonight in Cambridge,” alluding to the less-than-ideal conditions of his stay.

He then added: ‘It’s horrible! I don’t know who designs these hotels these days,’ before laughing.

It was revealed on Wednesday the presenter, 58, married the hair stylist, 49, on Friday in an intimate ceremony attended by ‘everyone who is special in their lives’

‘I am doing hair up here, I have a big job here tomorrow, and I was on The One Show tonight.. I did Miranda Hart’s hair, she was a lovely woman.’

On the live he then began to acknowledge the many messages of congratulations he was getting as he said: ‘Thank you. I forgot yeah! Yes it is all true!’

Others questions from the live then started flooding in including one fan who had asked for the best blow dry spray for her hair and another who asked what the big hair trends in 2026 will be.

Davina swapped the traditional wedding gown for a white fur-look coat as she tied the knot with Michael in a small London ceremony.

Excitedly posing with her new husband, Davina showed off her bridal white fur coat and matching lace hat, layered over matching tights and ankle-strap heels, while Michael opted for a bright blue suit.

On Thursday, Davina broke her silence on the wedding to praise her ‘lovely’ new husband Michael in a social media post.

Davina shared a video of a poem by Harry Baker on Thursday, calling it ‘extraordinary’.

The poem contained the words: ‘It’s not the flowers, it’s the weeding in the mud with you. It’s not the champagne, it’s that cuppa in that favourite mug you use.

‘It’s not the chocolate. OK it is, but not just one or two, it is becoming Bruce Bogtrotter and Augustus Gloop.

‘It’s voting frozen pizza over fancy grub with you. Because some nights, nothing can beat a slice of comfort food.’ 

Davina also reposted Michael’s latest hairdressing video, writing ‘@mdlondon Christmas tips. (Michael u r lovely)’.

A source told The Sun of Davina and Michael’s recent nuptials: ‘Their wedding was perfect, exactly what they wanted. They chose a small venue close to their home, and just invited about ten of their friends and relatives to be there with them.

‘It was very intimate and everyone who attended is very special in their lives. They’ve been through a huge amount in recent months, with Davina’s health, and it just felt right to formalise their marriage. They didn’t see the point in waiting.

The source added: ‘The next day they just carried on with life as normal, and as coincidence would have it they were guests at another friend’s wedding day.

‘So they went as a married couple for the first time and happily showed off her wedding ring. It was the perfect weekend.’

‘So I was like: “Oh, this is really nice.” And then he said: “Let’s go for a walk around the cliffs.” ‘I’m in some god-forsaken cowboy boots, little pink cowboy boots with steel toe caps and I’m not in a cliff climbing outfit. I could see he really wanted me to like it, it would make him happy.

‘And I thought, “Oh, bless” like he wants to show me something beautiful. So I was like: “Stop being miserable and get up the cliff.”‘
