DISTRESSING footage showed the moment Mississippi Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hosemann collapsed on the state senate floor, sparking panic among colleagues.

Gasps were heard as the Republican politician, 77, fell to the ground on Wednesday.

Hosemann was presiding over a session before he suddenly fell forward toward the podium.

His hands were clutching either side of the podium and his head suddenly fell forward.

Hosemann then fell sideways and his papers went flying.

The shocking scenes sparked a commotion and his colleagues went rushing over toward him.

“Delbert,” one woman was heard saying.

Hosemann was treated in the state Capitol and he walked out of the building on his own power, per Mississippi Today.

He got into a government car and not an ambulance.

And, his team said he was in good spirits following the fall.

Hosemann provided an update about his condition on social media.

“Thank you all for the kind words and prayers,” he said in an X post.

“I was dehydrated and am feeling fine now.

I am grateful for Mississippi’s phenomenal medical professionals and am ready to go back to work tomorrow.

“Lesson learned: Stay hydrated.”

Hosemann is considered a likely candidate to run for Governor of Mississippi.

Incumbent Tate Reeves, who has served as governor since 2020, cannot run for another term in office.

Hosemann is an avid hunter and a runner, according to his biography.

He is a member of the National Rifle Association and received the NRA’s Kirk Fordice Freedom Award.

POLITICIAN HEALTH SCARES

But, his collapse is the latest of a string of concerning incidents involving elderly politicians.

Republican grandee Mitch McConnell, 82, was seen in a wheelchair after falling in Congress.

McConnell also fell at a GOP lunch event in December and was left with a sprained wrist.

In March 2023, the former GOP Senate leader was left with a concussion and fractured rib following a fall in Washington DC.

Concerns about McConnell’s health also grew when he seemed to freeze during speaking engagements.

And, earlier this month, Democratic lawmaker John Larson, 76, seemed to freeze mid-speech.

Questions constantly swirled around president Joe Biden’s capabilities to be commander-in-chief after he suffered a string of gaffes and falls during his term.

In 2021, Biden fell up the stairs of Air Force One and took a tumble at an Air Force Academy graduation ceremony in 2023.
