Dennis Quaid shares update on his teen daughter who worked at nearby camp amid fatal floods in Texas

Dennis Quaid shared an update on his daughter Zoe Quaid, 17, who was working as a counselor at a nearby camp when the tragic fatal floods at Camp Mystic in Texas.

The Texas movie star, 71, revealed that Zoe is safe during his appearance on the Thursday broadcast of Hannity.

The Parent Trap star added that he couldn’t get a hold of her the night the flash floods took place, and didn’t sleep that night until he was able to reach her the next day.

‘Hill Country in Texas is a magical place, especially for children going to camp there. It’s a cherished memory you carry with you all your life,’ he said.

‘My daughter was a few miles away from [Camp] Mystic, further north. Thankfully their camp was okay.’

‘I heard about [the floods] as I was going to bed that night, and I tried to call her because I knew she was up there,’ he said on the broadcast.

‘I knew it wasn’t near where the floods, but I wasn’t able to talk to her ’til the next day I didn’t really get a lot of sleep that night,’ he added.

Dennis said he is friends with Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, and sent his condolences to his family for the loss of Janie Hunt, who died at age nine in the floods. 

Dennis, who was born and also raised in Houston, Texas, sent condolences to anyone affected by the deadly floods, which claimed the lives of 120 people, with 160 people still missing.

‘My heart goes out to everybody [and] my heart goes out to the Hunt family, who are friends of my wife Laura [Savoie] and I,’ he said.

‘Janie, Hunt, who was lost that weekend. I can’t imagine… how devastating that would be. None of us can,’ he added. 

Dennis shares daughter Zoe with his third now ex-wife, Kimberly Buffington.

Dennis and Kimberly are parents to twins Zoe and Thomas, 17.

He’s also dad to Jack Quaid, 33, with his second now ex-wife Meg Ryan.

Dennis was married to P.J. Soles from 1978 until 1983, then Meg from 1991 until 2000, then Kimberly from 2004 until 2012, and now currently with wife number four Laura Savoie, 32 years old – which is 39 years younger than him.  

The deadly floods took place on July 4 early morning in Central Texas, with the Guadalupe River rising 26 feet in 45 mins after six flash flood warnings were distributed in the area earlier in the day.

Since its summer, multiple camps were in operations in the area -including Camp Mystic.

Twenty-seven people died while at Camp Mystic, including children and counselors – with a total loss of life due to the fatal flood in the Hill Country at 120 people, with 160 people still missing.
