Lauren Sanchez has consistently captured attention over the years with her bold fashion sense, but it’s her remarkable handbag collection, valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars, that truly steals the spotlight.

Sanchez boasts an impressive selection of handbags, including some of the rarest offerings from renowned designers such as Hermès, Balenciaga, and Dior.

The 56-year-old flaunted many of these exclusive pieces during her lavish wedding weekend in Venice this June, where she tied the knot with her longtime partner, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Throughout the opulent event, Sanchez showcased a Hermès Porosus Crocodile Kelly Midas Sellier 25, estimated to be worth around $170,000, along with a limited-edition white mini bag by Dior, valued at over $15,000.

“Lauren Sanchez is conveying a story through her handbags, highlighting not only her exquisite taste but also her rare access,” remarked Tracy Lamourie, an image strategist and celebrity publicist, to The Daily Mail.

‘It also screams confidence, as an image consultant the message she is sending me is control of her image,’ she continued.

The expert explained that Sanchez’s collection shows that she has access to elite circles too. 

‘Because something like the Hermès Kelly Midas is not just super expensive, it’s not just rare,’ Lamourie said.

‘It shows she is really inside the relationships, in the center of the elite circles,’ she added. ‘That’s much more powerful a signal than just flashing wealth.’

In 2023, during an extensive interview with Vogue, she cited actress Salma Hayek and Amal Clooney as some of her biggest fashion inspirations.

‘Why? Because they dress for who they are, and that authenticity, I think, comes through,’ Sanchez told the outlet at the time.

‘I really think I am coming into who I am and I know what feels good,’ she added.

Now, The Daily Mail is taking a closer look into her lavish handbag collection, as it appears to have grown significantly over the years. 

Hermès Porosus Crocodile Kelly Midas Sellier 25 

Perhaps Sanchez’s most coveted and exclusive bags that she owns is her Hermès Porosus Crocodile Kelly Midas Sellier 25 in black, which is reportedly one of the hardest bags to get your hands on.

The bag’s gold handle is crafted from real, 18-karat gold, and features the designer’s classic, gold buckle hardware at the front, according to Page Six – and it’s worth an estimated $250,000.

And according to celebrity stylist Kim Appelt, a piece like this is one that even the wealthiest of people have trouble securing. 

‘Pieces like that are extraordinarily rare and often inaccessible even to the wealthiest buyers,’ Appelt told The Daily Mail.

‘They’re not simply purchased — they’re offered. Owning one signals access, yes, but more importantly discernment and appreciation for craftsmanship, history, and artistry,’ she said.

‘It tells me she values fashion as collectible, not just consumable.’

Evidently enough, her purse was a staple during her wedding weekend this past June, as she was seen carrying it as she left the Aman Hotel on the day of her nuptials, pairing it with a cream-colored Dior skirt suit set.

To complete the elegant look, which included a white, puff-sleeve, button-up top, she wrapped a white silk scarf around her head.

Sanchez has also been seen taking the bag for a spin in New York City, as she dressed it down wearing a white athletic jacket and black leggings.

She slipped into a pair of comfy white sneakers and added a blue printed cap on top of her dark locks which were styled into a ponytail. 

Balenciaga Coffee Cup Clutch Bag

While Sanchez appears to have a lot of timeless bags in her collection, she’s also not afraid to have some fun when it comes to fashion.

Last March, she was pictured carrying a $5,750 Balenciaga 9AM Coffee Cup Clutch Bag, a luxe item that is designed as a tote and shaped exactly like a hot coffee cup.

The front of the bag, which she owns in a cream color, reads, ‘Balenciaga Paris.’

When taking the bag out for a spin in Los Angeles, she paired it with a figure-hugging, sleeveless denim dress complete with a brown-and-gold belt.

And according to Appelt, it’s this bag that she finds to be one of the most interesting in Sanchez’s collection. 

‘Her playful bags — like the Balenciaga coffee cup — are what I find most interesting,’ Appelt explained to The Daily Mail.

‘They suggest humor, lightness, and someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously,’ she explained.

Appelt likened these fun bags to a ‘punctuation marks’ in someone’s wardrobe.  

‘They add personality and joy, and in many cases, they’re chosen because they balance out a strong or athletic frame by drawing the eye upward and outward,’ she shared.

Dr David Loranger, PhD, and associate professor of fashion marketing and merchandising at Sacred Heart University, told The Daily Mail that the bag could have been an effort to create more buzz around the brand on social media. 

‘I think it’s a genius branding idea to center your personal fashion branding around a particular item,’ Loranger said. 

‘Dana Thomas notes in her excellent book Deluxe that brands constantly attempt to place their products with celebrities via swag, so some of these bags may be given to her for free with the hopes that she’s photographed and shared on social media,’ he continued.

‘I would also think the more outlandish the design, the more likely it might become a topic of conversation on social channels.’

During this summer, the rare Birkin wasn’t the only coveted purse that Sanchez was carrying around as she spent time in Europe.

She also sported a limited-edition micro purse by Dior as she galivanted around Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes with her husband, Bezos, in July.

The beaded Lady Dior micro purse, which featured an embroidered compass on its front, was designed by artist Pietro Ruffo as part of a collaboration with the designer in 2023.

The purse also includes gold hardware and a gaggle of gold and white Dior-themed charms hanging off its handle.

Per InStyle, the piece is worth over $15,000.

‘Overall, her handbag collection reads as confident, playful, and deeply personal,’ Appelt said.

‘Yes, the bags are rare, but what stands out more is the range — seriousness mixed with fun,’ she noted.

‘That balance usually belongs to someone very comfortable in their own skin.’ 

Hermès Sellier Birkin 25 in Brown

In addition to her super rare Birkin bags, she also owns some in more classic colors, like her Sellier Birkin 25 in brown.

She first debuted the purse, which retails on resale sites for over $35,000, in October 2021.

The Fly Who Flew To Space author was snapped walking the streets of New York with Bezos as they shopped around, pairing the classic bag with a brown mini tank dress at the time, along with Alexander McQueen tennis sneakers and an oversized white blazer.

Appelt calls the Birkin bag ‘timeless, powerful, and grounded.’ 

‘Structured bags like that often appeal to women who like a sense of control and polish, especially when they’re frequently photographed,’ Appelt explained.

In August 2022, while on vacation in London with the Amazon tycoon, she also sported an eye-popping, pink crocodile Birkin bag that was worth around $105,000 at the time.

She toted it around while accessorizing with 1,045 Cartier sunglasses and a custom teardrop diamond necklace. 

However, her collection of Birkin bags remains unsurprising to some. 

Loranger told The Daily Mail that the Birkin bag is ‘merely the price of entry in those social circles.’ 

‘It would be considered a basic “every day” bag for a billionaire oligarch’s wife,’ he shared.

To add to her playful bag collection, Sanchez was gifted a $7,000, diamond-encrusted purse in the shape of a UFO from the Kardashian family after she set off into space last April with the historic, all-female Blue Origin crew.

Sanchez embarked on an all-woman 11-minute suborbital flight to space on her Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket alongside singer Katy Perry, 40, and CBS Mornings host Gayle King, 70.

The women crossed the Karman Line, often used as the boundary of space, and were treated to roughly three minutes of weightlessness before they headed back down to the ground.

The pricey purse is shaped exactly like a UFO, with a glittering, silver base and sapphire-blue top adorned with star-shaped rhinestones and jewels.

At the time, Sanchez took to Instagram to show off the present, writing that the gift was ‘out of this world.’

Lamourie explained that the more ‘fun’ bags signal that she has ‘nothing to prove,’ which is when ‘being silly or whimsical becomes a fashion flex.’

That’s not where the fun ends, though.  

Throughout her wedding weekend, she also wore many custom accessories that were a nod to her new last name, like a black rhinestone-encrusted black clutch bag that read, ‘Mrs. Bezos’ on it in silver gems.
