A SIX year old girl has allegedly been tortured and kept in a dog crate by her parents.
Her parents, Jacob William Weight, 37, and Mimi Ann Frost, 33, were arrested after police received a 911 call and found the unresponsive 6- year-old girl.
Weight and Frost were charged with multiple accounts, including strangulation, endangering minors, corruption of minors, aggravated assault, and more, reports The Daily Mail.
The investigation started on February 6th, when Weight called 911 after the child suffered a seizure in his home in Pennsylvania.
Police arrived on the scene, finding the home in deplorable conditions, with trash, urine, and feces from the home’s eight dogs scattered all over.
Footage from the house shows a dog crate in the living room, equipped with blankets and dirt.
According to the children living in the home, the six year old was locked in the dog crate and was beaten with a broom.
Mike Aubele, the county district attorney, said the case is one of the worst child endangerment cases he’s ever seen.
“Throughout our investigation, we realized that this little girl had suffered, for lack of a better way to put it, she had been tortured in that house,” he said to CBS News.
“There were numerous abrasions on her body, open sores, she was believed to be septic.”
Children and teenager interviews with authorities revealed that the six year old girl was put in the dog kennel naked.
They claim that she was kept there overnight even though there is no heating in the house.
They alleged that when the family left the house, the girl’s hands and legs would be tied up with zip ties and that she was locked in the crate.
They also said that the girl was often hungry, with Frost denying her food for days at a time.
The victim spoke to a therapist and corroborated some of this information, claiming that she slept in the crate every night and that she was fed dog food.
She also revealed that Weight beat her and shot her with BB guns in the legs.
Medical reports showed that the 6 year old had skin abrasions, open sores, and multiple wounds.
She also appeared malnourished and was struggling with hypothermia when she was first admitted in the hospital.
After inspecting her, it was revealed that the girl hadn’t had appropriate pediatric care in three years.
She also wasn’t attending school.
“What her parents did to her was absolutely horrible, it’s amazing that a human being could ever treat a child this way, and one of the worst parts about it is there were five other children in the house and 10 dogs and none of them were malnourished,” said Aubele.
He said that authorities believed that several of the children in the home may have also participated in the abuse.
All of the children and the animals have been removed from the home.
Weight and Frost were denied bail and are due in court on February 20th.
When addressed by a reporter on the scene of his arrest, Weight claimed he was innocent.
