Louisville Metro police arrived at the Driver Licensing Regional Office on Dixie Highway around noon and found the victims.

The male victim had died by the time they got there, and the two women died on their way to the hospital.

None of their identities have been released as investigators contact their next of kin.

“It’s absolutely a tragedy,” LPMD Major Donald Boeckman said, according to CBS affiliate WLKY.

“It’s absolutely a tragedy. And I’m surprised there weren’t more people injured with this.

“Many people were standing outside.”

Boeckman said they’ve launched a citywide hunt for the shooter but said there isn’t any threat to the public.

When asked how the town is safe with a killer on the run, the chief wasn’t able to provide details.

He did confirm that the shooting wasn’t a murder-suicide.

The major also believes the attack took place in the parking lot.

Boeckman said witnesses saw “subjects” flee the scene in a vehicle, but no arrests have been made.

“There does not seem to be a public threat at this point in time as it relates to this incident,” Boeckman said.

“There are no known suspects.”

Officials are asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

HORRIFIC SCENE

Yellow tape has been plastered around the crime scene, and horrified onlookers are crowded around, waiting for answers.

The DMV is located in Valley Station, about 16 miles southwest of Louisville.

Neighbors in the area have been left stunned by the shooting.

“I was just there last week … praying for these victims and their families,” one person wrote on Facebook.

“HORRIBLE! So sad, praying for the families and all those involved,” another wrote.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear shared a statement on X calling the shooting a “senseless act of violence.”
