On Friday, former President Trump granted an interview to Norah O’Donnell from CBS News, which is scheduled to be broadcast on “60 Minutes” this Sunday.
This conversation was held at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach and is set to air at 7:30 PM ET.
This marks Trump’s first interview with CBS since he filed a lawsuit against the network and its parent company, Paramount Global. The lawsuit was in response to an interview aired on “60 Minutes” with former Vice President Kamala Harris, where Trump alleged the network had manipulated her responses regarding the conflict in Gaza to make her appear more articulate. CBS has denied these allegations in both court filings and public statements.
In a resolution reached in July, Paramount Global agreed to a $16 million settlement, which is designated for the future presidential library of Trump, rather than personally benefiting him.
As part of the settlement terms, Paramount has agreed that “60 Minutes” will release transcripts of interviews conducted with eligible U.S. presidential candidates following their broadcast, though these may be redacted for legal or national security reasons.
The settlement did not include a statement of apology or regret.
CBS has faced a tumultuous period in recent months following its merger with Skydance, which required the approval from Trump-appointed officials on the Federal Election Commission (FEC).
