Elizabeth Holmes says she is still “fighting to prove my innocence” and hopes to return home to her children, making the declaration in a post featuring a tender pre-prison selfie with her longtime partner, Billy Evans.
The 42-year-old former Theranos executive broke her public silence from prison on Sunday night, marking what she described as 1,216 “endless days and nights” behind bars while insisting that her legal fight to overturn her conviction continues.
Holmes’s X account shared a photograph of her smiling alongside Evans, 33, the hotel heir and father of her two young children.
The affectionate photograph appears to have been taken before Holmes began serving her sentence. Wearing everyday clothes and a blue baseball cap, she rests her head against Evans as they pose outdoors.
“I was silenced for a long time. And then imprisoned,” Holmes wrote.
“I am fighting to prove my innocence and come home to my babies and the love of my life.”
Holmes is serving her sentence at Federal Prison Camp Bryan, a minimum-security facility in Texas. She was convicted in 2022 on four fraud and conspiracy counts linked to Theranos, the blood-testing startup whose dramatic collapse exposed its failed claims and business practices.
Her latest message comes as she approaches a potentially significant step toward release.

Holmes shared a selfie taken before her imprisonment with longtime partner Billy Evans, saying he “fights fiercely” for their family and adding: “I love him beyond space and time.”
Last week, reports said Holmes had been approved to transfer to an Austin-area halfway house next summer.
The former Silicon Valley star is scheduled to move to the Austin Transitional Center in Del Valle on August 23, 2027, according to an update listed by the Department of Justice’s Victim Notification System.
The facility is only a few miles from the Austin neighborhood where Evans lives, which could make visits with him and their children easier.
Holmes initially received an 11-year-and-three-month federal prison sentence. In March, that term was reduced by a full year to 10 years and three months, although she is expected to spend less time in custody overall.
In Sunday’s post, Holmes also explained how her social media accounts have remained active during her incarceration.
“I have now been imprisoned for 1,216 endless days and nights,” she wrote. “During that time, as we fight for freedom, my loved ones have helped manage my account. Billy is one of the people carrying that responsibility for me.”
Holmes then praised Evans, who has continued to support her through the collapse of her business empire, her criminal conviction and her time in prison.
“He fights fiercely for me and our family,” she wrote. “I love him beyond space and time.”

Holmes said that from now on, messages containing her own words would be signed with her initials, ‘-EAH,’ while unsigned posts would come from the ‘team’ running the account.
‘I am profoundly grateful for the support we receive as we fight to expose the truth and challenge deeply entrenched perceptions,’ she added.
‘Opening letters from my supporters at the end of unforgiving days constantly ignites the fire in my heart.’

The defiant statement represents the latest attempt by the disgraced entrepreneur to reenter the public conversation after years in which her spectacular rise and fall became one of Silicon Valley’s most notorious scandals.
Theranos was once valued at around $9 billion after Holmes claimed its technology could perform a vast array of medical tests using just a pin prick of blood.
But the company’s claims unraveled following reporting by The Wall Street Journal, eventually leading to its collapse and Holmes’s prosecution.
She continues to challenge her conviction and has sought clemency after her efforts to overturn the verdict through the appeals process suffered setbacks.
Her prison life is a far cry from her years as a celebrated tech billionaire.
Holmes earns just 31 cents an hour working as both a re-entry clerk and law clerk at Bryan, helping other inmates prepare for life outside prison and assisting with legal matters.

She has also been ordered to pay, jointly with former Theranos executive and ex-boyfriend Ramesh ‘Sunny’ Balwani, hundreds of millions of dollars in restitution to victims.
Weekends appear to provide something of an escape from the monotony of prison life.
Recent Daily Mail photographs showed Holmes spending visiting hours with her son William, five, and daughter Invicta, three, on the grounds of the Texas prison.
Holmes has previously described visits from Evans and their children as the highlight of her week.
Her latest social media intervention also comes as Holmes is thrust back into the spotlight by You Can See Everything, Nathan Fielder’s documentary chronicling her final weeks of freedom before she surrendered to prison.
Fielder moved into Holmes and Evans’s California home and filmed them for 34 days as the couple confronted the reality that Holmes would soon be separated from their children.
In the documentary trailer, Evans even acknowledges that he once considered whether Holmes could be scamming him.

‘100%,’ Evans responds when Fielder asks whether that possibility ever crossed his mind, before questioning what Holmes could have gained from him.
Fielder also confronts Holmes herself over whether he is seeing the whole truth.
‘I don’t have anything to deceive you on,’ Holmes insists. ‘Of course I’m not deceiving you. I’m engaging with you as a human being. Why would I deceive you? There’s no reason for me to do that.’
When Fielder asks whether she is being real, Holmes replies: ‘I’m always being real.’
