A BELOVED news anchor who died unexpectedly was pictured beaming on set with her colleague just days before.

Anchor and reporter Emily Matson, who was announced to have died on Monday in Pennsylvania, seemed to be in great spirits in a Facebook post with her coworker, days before her death.

On December 8, Matson’s colleague John Stehlin, posted a photo of the pair grinning from ear to ear, as they posed with brownies in hand.

“It’s National Brownie Day! Look what my favorite coworker at 7 o’clock brought! She’s so kind! But she forgot the milk. #nationalbrownieday Emily Matson News” he captioned the photo.

After the news of Matson’s death, fans came back to the post to share their condolences.

“I am so sad I will never see Emily with you again,” wrote one person. “You were two peas in a pod. I hope she is at peace now.”

“Thinking of you and all those that loved Emily during this devastating and difficult time,” wrote another person.

Matson worked with NBC affiliate WICU for almost 20 years.

Established within her field, she received two awards from the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters.

“It is with a very heavy heart that we have learned of the passing of our beloved Erie News Now news anchor Emily Matson,” read a statement from WICU

“Emily was a shining light in our newsroom, delivering news with a passion and love she had for the Erie community and Northwest Pennsylvania. We loved Emily dearly and our hearts go out to the Matson family and her husband Ryan at this time.”

At this time, her cause of death is unknown.

TRIBUTES FROM LOVED ONES

Friends and colleagues released tributes to the reporter on social media after the news of her sudden passing.

“What an incredible loss. I am heartbroken and truly gutted to share the news of my friend and former coworker’s passing. Emily and I worked together in Erie, PA for a few years,” Katie McGraw shared about her friend on Monday,

“She and my fiancé had the most lovely friendship. I have so many wonderful memories with her. She was hilarious, witty, kind, fiery, talented, fabulous and fun. She is already so missed”

Jason Morell, who had known Matson for years, took the time to praise her for the work she put into reporting,

“Sad to hear about this! Emily Matson over the years did many stories with our K9’s, departments and was always a pleasure to work with during stories and interviews! Thoughts and prayers go out to the family she will be missed by the entire community!” he wrote in a recent social media post.

Victor Irizarry, who had done a story with her in the past also highlighted the reporter as an “amazing person” and a “good friend.”

“Sadly going to miss Emily Matson, she was an amazing person and a great friend. Her and I did a story in P.R.and she was a very humble and caring person and show alot of compassion for everyone around her. We are definitely going to miss you. R.I.P” he wrote.

Another co-worker shared that she was “absolutely floored” by the news of Matson’s death.

“Emily was such a presence in the newsroom and in the studio, and I can’t count the number of times that I would stop by her desk to talk to her or just listen to her talk to others,” she wrote.

“She always had a way of drawing people in and making them feel welcome, and when I first started at ENN she made sure I was included in the Secret Santa gift exchange and got me a sign that says ‘Let it Snow… Somewhere Else – Erie, PA.'”

“She made me, a stranger and a baby in the industry feel included and was always there with advice or ideas if I needed them.”

“I’m sending love to the whole ENN team and the NWPA community”
