THE father of an American teen taken hostage by Hamas has spoken out after she was released on Friday.
Natalie Raanan, 17, and her mother Judith, 59 – who are both US citizens – were captured by militants while they were visiting family in Israel on October 7.
“I feel wonderful!” Uri Raanan, Natalie’s father and Judith’s ex-husband, told The Boston Herald after hearing the news.
“I’m in tears.”
The 72-year-old Illinois resident received the news in a call from President Joe Biden and Governor JB Pritzker.
Uri also got to speak to Natalie, who “didn’t say much” but told him that she’s “OK.”
The father believes Natalie and Judith are on their way to Tel Aviv and should be back in the US next week, The Associated Press reported.
“I’ve been waiting for this for two weeks,” he said.
“I’m finally going to sleep good tonight. I really appreciate the president’s effort.”

Uri is happy Natalie will be able to celebrate her 18th birthday with friends and family next week.
Another relative who didn’t want to be named told The Herald she was “beyond relieved” to hear the news.
“Oh my God,” she said immediately after getting the news.
“I’m elated. There’s hope there’s an end to this.”
The hostages were released on “humanitarian grounds” due to Judith’s ailing health.
Officials from Qatar helped mediate the situation.
More than 200 other hostages taken in the attacks on October 7 are still being held by Hamas.
Israeli authorities say at least 1,400 civilians were killed in the offensive.
Another 3,785 people in Gaza have been killed by Israel’s response, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Natalie and Judith were taken from Nahal Oz, a kibbutz that’s nearly adjacent to the border with Gaza.
The pair were celebrating a grandmother’s 85th birthday at the time.
Hamas has been designated a terrorist organization by the US, Canada, and the European Union.
