In a candid discussion on Thursday’s episode of MS NOW’s “The Briefing,” Representative Dan Goldman of New York voiced his concerns about the FBI, criticizing the agency for what he perceives as its misplaced priorities. He argued that the FBI’s intense focus on political matters detracts from its primary mission of ensuring the safety and security of the American public. Goldman described the situation as “dreadful,” emphasizing that this shift in focus is causing the nation to miss out on the protection it deserves.
During the conversation, host Jen Psaki brought up comments made by Pam Bondi and Kash Patel, who criticized the Department of Justice under President Biden. They claimed that evidence related to the 2021 pipe bomb incidents was merely “collecting dust” under the current administration. Psaki questioned Goldman about whether he believed the Biden administration mishandled the investigation into the pipe bombs.
Goldman dismissed the idea that there was any mishandling by the Biden administration, suggesting instead that the Justice Department has become overly political. He acknowledged the success of the investigation if it resulted in apprehending the pipe bomber, commending the investigative work. However, he questioned why such achievements should be politicized or linked to President Biden. Goldman expressed frustration with the situation, noting that the political entanglements within the FBI have led to low morale and dissatisfaction among its ranks. He reiterated his call for the agency to refocus on its core responsibilities, underscoring the importance of prioritizing public safety over political agendas.
