In the chaos that erupted in Minneapolis following a federal agent’s shooting of an armed individual, a shocking incident occurred in which a federal agent reportedly had a finger bitten off. This violent episode unfolded against a backdrop of heightened tensions and protests.
According to a report by Breitbart News, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that the agent had fired “defensive shots” when a man approached U.S. Border Patrol officers brandishing a 9mm semiautomatic handgun. The situation rapidly escalated, leading to the use of force by the federal authorities.
The DHS shared a post on X featuring a photo of the handgun retrieved from the scene, claiming that the individual who was shot had intentions to “massacre law enforcement,” highlighting the perceived threat level faced by the officers involved.
In events that followed, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin noted that an agent’s finger was bitten off by one of the “rioters.”
McLaughlin, a source familiar with the incident, noted the severity of the agent’s injury, confirming that the agent is expected to “lose his finger” as a result of the altercation.
In a related development, Breitbart News also reported that earlier this week, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes expressed her opinion that she does not regard ICE officers as “real law enforcement,” a statement that has sparked considerable debate and discussion.
She specifically put the word “officers” in quotation marks, saying, “I put that in air quotes because I don’t think they are real law enforcement.”
Mayes discussed Arizona’s “Stand Your Ground” law as well: “You have these masked, federal officers with very little identification — sometimes no identification — wearing plain clothes and masks,” she said, “and we have a ‘Stand Your Ground’ law that says if you reasonably believe your life is in danger and you’re in your house or in your car or on your property, that you can defend yourself with lethal force.”
