In recent developments, it has become unsettling to discover that individuals with radical views may be more prevalent in the medical field than previously thought. However, there is a silver lining as some of these individuals have voluntarily exposed their beliefs on social media, providing concerned community members the opportunity to alert relevant authorities and advocate for necessary actions.
Such action was swiftly taken in the case of Malinda Cook, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at VCU Medical Center in Richmond. Cook faced termination after a series of her TikTok videos gained widespread attention. The videos, which encouraged harmful practices against immigration enforcement officers, sparked significant public outcry due to their dangerous implications.
VCU Health responded decisively, stating in a social media announcement on Tuesday, “Following an investigation, the individual involved in the social media videos is no longer employed by VCU Health. In addition, VCU Health has fulfilled its reporting requirements under Virginia state law.”
