Fox Business host Jackie DeAngelis was allegedly left permanently scarred and disfigured after being attacked by a pit bull inside a Whole Foods store, according to a lawsuit.
DeAngelis, 46, a co-host of The Big Money Show, was shopping at a Manhattan grocery store in September 2023 when the dog mauled her, the court filing claims.
Whole Foods bars pets from its stores unless they are service animals.
In the lawsuit, DeAngelis accuses the retailer of failing to remove the animal from the premises before she suffered what the filing describes as “severe, serious and permanent personal injuries.”
“As a result of the occurrence, [DeAngelis] sustained injuries to her body, including significant scarring and disfigurement, together with pain, suffering and emotional distress,” the lawsuit states.
Police told the New York Post that a black pit bull bit the Fox host on her left hand. By the time officers arrived at the scene, the dog and its owner had fled.
The filing claims that DeAngelis has undergone surgical treatment as a result of the incident and has suffered permanent injuries.
DeAngelis is seeking unspecified damages, alleging that the grocer allowed the dog into the store despite its policy.

‘[Whole Foods] failed to reasonably enforce its own policies, practices and/or procedures concerning animals entering and remaining within the subject store,’ the lawsuit alleges.
Whole Foods notes on its website that, while it maintains a ‘No Pets’ policy, service animals are welcome.

DeAngelis joined Fox Business as a financial correspondent in April 2019 and now co-hosts The Big Money Show alongside Taylor Riggs, Brian Brenberg and Dagen McDowell.
Before joining Fox, she spent 13 years at CNBC, where she served as the network’s chief energy correspondent and anchored an online commodities program, according to her biography.
The anchor is fluent in Mandarin and Farsi and graduated cum laude from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in Asian studies and history.
She also holds a Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers Law School.
Around 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year in the United States, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Of those, approximately 800,000 require medical attention. Last year, there were 84 recorded dog-related deaths across the United States and Canada, according to Animals 24-7.
The incident allegedly took place at the at 10 Columbus Circle branch in Manhattan
The nonprofit organization reported that roughly 64 of those fatalities involved pit bulls.
Among the victims was Angel Rawlings, 22, who was attacked by two pit bulls at her home in Bourbon, Missouri, on December 27, 2025.
Meanwhile, Emily Panuco, 27, of Parker, Arizona, was mauled to death while trying to shield her young son from three dogs during an attack in California in February.
Five types of dogs are currently prohibited in the UK: the Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro and XL Bully.
