Fox News contributor Leslie Marshall shared a deeply personal experience on Thursday’s episode of “Outnumbered,” revealing she has endured 11 miscarriages over the years. The discussion arose during a segment where fellow contributor Joe Concha commended the late Charlie Kirk for encouraging young people to prioritize family building. As the conversation unfolded, Tomi Lahren sought Marshall’s perspective, asking if there was anything to be learned from Kirk’s stance. Marshall, a mother of two and an established liberal voice, responded thoughtfully.
“I think it’s wonderful when young people, regardless of their political leanings, engage with politics and become active in their communities,” Marshall stated. “Especially in an age where so many are consumed by social media.” She emphasized the importance of her children being exposed to diverse viewpoints to form their own unbiased opinions. Addressing Concha, she noted, “While marriage and family are significant to many, there are those who wish to marry but haven’t found the right partner, or perhaps haven’t been proposed to yet.”
Marshall, 53, bravely opened up about her personal journey, saying, “I have suffered 11 miscarriages and have two children—one through adoption and another after 13 IVF cycles. I also lost a son.” Her candid revelation highlighted the struggles many face. “It’s important to recognize that when people advocate for marriage and children, it’s not always straightforward for everyone. Infertility is a challenge many women face. Just because a woman doesn’t have children doesn’t mean she doesn’t want them. It might be that she simply can’t have them,” she explained. Concha, the only male panelist, swiftly expressed his apologies, clarifying that Kirk’s message was about pursuing any form of family one desires.
Marshall assured him that she was not offended, noting, ‘I’m just saying – for some people, [getting pregnant] is not number one or number two, Because they are afraid – you know what I mean? ‘Some of my friends saw what I went through and thought, “Maybe I don’t want to go down that road.”‘ Fox News Political Analyst Lisa Boothe told the contributor: ‘I hear what you’re saying, Leslie – I’m so sorry that you went through that. I’ve had friends who have gone through miscarriages. It is heartbreaking. I’m so sorry you went through that.
‘I think he was just encouraging a different reflection point and what society is telling us,’ she said of Kirk. The conversation went on from there, with Marshall staying composed. The pundit’s son and daughter are now 18 and 17, respectively. Her husband, Dr. Asghar Husain, is an orthopedic surgeon. Marshall joined Fox News Channel as a contributor in 2009, following more than ten years as a talk radio host. She continues to host a nationally syndicated show on TalkUSA Radio today.
A rare liberal voice on Fox, Marshall has also worked CNBC’s Kudlow & Company, CNN’s Showbiz Tonight, and MSNBC’s since-cancelled Scarborough Country. She became the youngest person ever to be nationally syndicated radio host when she replaced legendary late night show host Tom Snyder on the ABC Satellite Radio Network in 1992. She has been in broadcasting ever since.
