The man accused of killing Kirk while he was debating college students at Utah Valley University is a white 22-year-old, Tyler Robinson, who was living with a transgender partner. Police are still investigating his motives.

'Why is only this happening on the left and not the right? That's all we need to know,' Gutfeld asked. Tarlov noted that Minnesota Democrat Melissa Hortman was killed alongside her husband back in June, but Gutfeld insisted that was markedly different.

He noted that Kirk was a household name who was shot in broad daylight, in an assassination caught on camera and widely disseminated. He also said there had been a widespread effort among left-wing communities to 'demonize' Kirk for his beliefs.

'Did you know her name before it happened?' Gutfeld asked. 'None of us did. None of us were spending every single day talking about Melissa Hortman. I never heard of her until after she died.' Gutfeld was further incensed when Tarlov once again pushed back against his rhetoric, asking if that meant Hortman 'doesn't matter.'

'Don't play that [expletive] with me,' Gutfeld said. 'What I'm saying is there was no demonization amplification about that woman before she died. It was a specific crime against her by somebody that knew her.

'The fact of the matter is the both sides argument not only doesn't fly, we don't care. We don't care about your both sides argument. That [expletive] is dead.' Gutfeld continued, arguing that Americans on the left had tried to 'rationalize' Kirk's death using phrases like 'what about this' and 'what about that' because 'your beliefs do not match reality.'

'We are NOT doing that because we saw it happen. We saw a young bright man ASSASSlNATED and we know who did it.' Tarlov is an American political strategist for the Democratic Party, while Gutfeld is a television host and political commentator who has been praised by conservatives for his response to Kirk's assassination.

Just a day after Kirk's death, Gutfeld paid tribute to him, saying: 'Why was Charlie assassinated? It wasn't about his ideas, it is that he was so good at them. 'He was the best. There was no one like him. This will backfire. Look at the history of those murdered because they were good. MLK Jr.'s dream did not die with him. Or JFK's. Or Lincoln's.

'Their legacy grows, and Charlie's will as well, beyond his wildest dreams … He already knew his impact, which will only grow with his passing. 'A man whose entire career was built on polite conversation. But that grief now hardens into resolve. If you want to kill an idea, the worst thing you can do is kill the man behind it. Because that gives the idea not just likes, but also wings.'
