Gavin Newsom 'Not Interested In Who's To Blame' After Cutting Wildfire Prevention Budget by $100 Million from 2025 Budget

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) said Friday on the popular podcast Pod Save America that he is “not interested in who’s to blame” for the wildfires that have ravaged 29,000 acres of land and some of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Los Angeles.

But in June of 2024, Newsom signed into law California’s 2024-2025 Fiscal Year budget, which cut $101 million from the state’s fire prevention budget.

“Let’s just get the facts, and let’s get them out quickly” he said on the podcast. “Let’s stop with the finger pointing. Let’s just assess the truth. I’m not interested in who’s to blame. I want to know what happened.”

Newsom also said in a Friday interview that he is not interested in politicizing the fire, just hours after accusing President-Elect Donald Trump of “spreading disinformation from the sidelines.”

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has also come under fire for her role in the city’s unpreparedness, reportedly cutting the city’s 2025 Fire Department budget by $17 million. Since the fire broke out, fire hydrants around Los Angeles have not produced any water to fight the blaze.

Even Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristen Crowley said in a December report that the funding deficit has affected the department’s “ability to maintain core operations,” including training and response to large-scale emergencies.

Bass said that those responsible will eventually be held accountable.

“Rest assured when that is done, when we are safe, when lives have been saved and homes have been saved, we will absolutely do an evaluation to look at what worked, and what didn’t work, and to correct – or to hold accountable – anybody, department, individual, etcetera,” Bass told reporters on Thursday. “But my focus right now is on the lives and the homes.”

Bass was in Ghana attending the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama last week when the fires broke out Wednesday.

National File confirmed every single one of Errol Webber’s claims from his viral post slamming Karen Bass for her close ties to violent terrorists and communists.

The Santa Ynez Reservoir in the Pacific Palisades, a 117 million gallon reservoir run by Los Angeles County, has also been out of commission since February of 2023.

Even reality television bimbo Khloe Kardashian slammed Bass as “a joke” after the Kardashian family was forced to evacuate their home in Calabasas.
