A GROUP of thirsty German lads have shamed Brits by breaking the beer-drinking record in Majorca by downing a jaw-dropping 1,300 glasses.

The 40 drinkers managed to set a new record at the Deutsches Eck bar in Playa de Palma finishing a total of ten pints each during their eight-hour sesh.

The group, members of a German gun club consumed 1,330 0.2-litre glasses of beer on the Spanish island – about 28 glasses each.

The team started the challenge at around 11 am last Saturday and finished it after 7pm – with the final bill being a staggering  2,793 euros (£2,400), Mallorca Bulletin reports.

Footage shows the happy group cheering and singing as they down one pint after the other.

They managed to break the last record of 1,234 glasses of beer which was set in October last year.

The last meeting was set up in the Bamboleo pub in Palma and involved two different groups who did not know each other but had joined WhatsApp groups to take on the challenge.

“It was a really great group and a lot of fun,“ said one of the organisers of the event Kai Uwe Kahmann at the time.

The 55 participants had aimed to beat the previous record of 1,111 beers, set at the Bierkönig.

A drinker of the party posted on social media: “We were a great group, with 56 people of different ages, from 19 to 67.

“We all had a great time and partied together, something that is unfortunately almost unheard of nowadays: bringing together young and old to share a common experience.”

“Everything was done in an orderly fashion, nobody lost their temper or got out of hand,” said a 62-year-old businessman, one of the oldest members of the party.
