During an appearance on “Face the Nation,” NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte discussed the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz and the ongoing threats posed by Iran.
Rutte highlighted the positive development that 22 nations have united to ensure the Strait of Hormuz remains open and secure. He recalled past successes, such as when President Donald Trump influenced NATO allies to contribute their 5 percent share, thereby bolstering defense capabilities. Rutte expressed strong confidence in their ability to effectively manage the situation with Iran.
The coalition primarily comprises NATO member countries, but also includes Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. “We are now coordinating military and strategic efforts among these 22 nations and the United States,” Rutte stated.
