Oprah Winfrey, the long-time associate and supporter of convicted sex offender and rapist, Harvey Weinstein announced her endorsement Democratic Senate nominee John Fetterman’s campaign in Pennsylvania. While the endorsement is in line with Winfrey’s politics, Winfrey was responsible for giving Fetterman’s GOP opponent, Dr. Mehmet Oz, his start on television. For years Oz hosted the Dr. Oz Show, which aired daily on major networks, propelling him into fame and potentially the U.S. Senate.

In addition to Fetterman, Winfrey also endorsed Mandela Barnes in Wisconsin, and the radical Warnock-Abrams duo in Georgia, among other neoliberal “progressives” across the nation.

“That is not the only race that matters. If I was in North Carolina…sister (Cheri) Beasley there, and if I was in Florida, I’d be supporting Val Demings. If I was in Wisconsin, it would be Mandela Barnes, in Nevada it would be Catherine Cortez Masto,” Winfrey stated. “And in Texas, Beto O’Rourke, and Raphael Warnock and the incredible Stacey Abrams, of course, in Georgia.”

As for the Pennsylvania race, Fetterman has seen his lead narrow in recent weeks as the Senate hopeful recovers from a stroke he suffered this past May. Fetterman, who currently serves as the state’s lieutenant governor, has struggled mightily with speech and processing thoughts.

Fetterman has resorted to using a computer program that helps him process his thoughts, which was detailed during a recent ABC interview.

In the one and only debate between the two, Fetterman struggled to form coherent sentences, prompting serious questions about his ability to perform the job. “I was able to stop gun violence for five and half years as mayor — ever accomplished before or since my time as mayor because I’m the only person on this stage right now that has successful about pushing against gun violence and being the community more safe,” the senate hopeful said while defending his “criminal justice reform” policies.

Despite the evident cognitive decline, Oprah Winfrey’s former daytime TV colleagues on The View claimed Fetterman is in great shape earlier this week. “It’s clear your post-stroke troubles are not cognitive and would not hinder you as a senator,” host Sara Haines told Fetterman after he struggled through an interview.

Fetterman and Oz are currently locked in a race largely polled a pure toss-up after Oz has narrowed the gap since August.
