For those who didn’t foresee Hillary Clinton aligning with any of President Trump’s policies, you’re certainly not alone.
Yet, in a surprising turn of events, Clinton has expressed approval for Trump’s 20-point strategy for Gaza, referring to it as “the only viable option available.”
Describing this as “unexpected” might just be the understatement of the year, akin to Napoleon calling Waterloo a mere “mishap.” While Trump’s plan isn’t perfect, it stands as the most feasible solution currently on the table.
The fascinating aspect here is Clinton’s indirect acknowledgment of the pervasive Trump Derangement Syndrome affecting many Democrats, hinting at the surprise factor in her rare commendation for Trump. It’s worth noting that conservatives have also extended praise to former President Biden for positive actions, such as his decision to step back from the 2024 presidential race following an underwhelming debate performance.
Her unexpected endorsement is indeed astonishing. If anyone seemed consumed by opposition to Trump, it was the 2016 election’s defeated candidate, Hillary Clinton, often portrayed as the epitome of entitlement and self-regard.
“Unexpected” is the biggest understatement since Napoleon Bonaparte described his loss at Waterloo as a “bit of a setback.” But reality is a harsh mistress, and while there’s probably room for criticism in President Trump’s 20-point plan, it’s still the best option; not the best plan imaginable, but the best plan possible.
Remnick then turned the conversation to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas and pressed Clinton on her longtime support of a two-state solution in the region.
“But if I look at the Israeli polity, they don’t want a two-state solution, certainly not now. And if you look at the Palestinian polity, which is an even more complicated set of geographies and population, a two-state solution is not anywhere near the offing there,” Remnick said.
He went on to ask Clinton if the concept of a two-state solution is still viable within the region, as officials push for peace.
“So other than some constituents — now it’s diminishing — in the West and elsewhere, a two-state solution, which was fought for so hard but began going out the window many years ago, seems impossible,” Remnick added. “Am I wrong?”
“You might be, but you might not be,” Clinton said. “And here’s why. I’m going to say something positive about Trump — so hold on.”
“Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza is actually a pathway to security for Israel, reconstruction for Gaza, and the possibility of self-determination — however defined — for the Palestinians,” Clinton continued. “There are a lot of people who reject it because Trump did it, but it’s the only game in town. There’s nothing else.”
What’s really interesting here is Hillary Clinton’s tacit admission of runaway Stage V Trump Derangement Syndrome in almost all Democrats, implying that people should be amazed that she’s saying something positive about President Trump. Plenty of conservatives had nice things to say about former President Biden, after all, when he did something good, like withdrawing from the 2024 presidential election after his one disastrous debate performance.
It’s still something of a gobsmacker. If there’s any Democrat political figure who seemed overwhelmed with Trump Derangement Syndrome, it would be the loser of the 2016 presidential contest against the current president, that queen of self-entitlement, Her Imperial Majesty Hillary I, Dowager-Empress of Chappaqua.
