HOMEOWNERS have been left fuming after HOA switched water service billing providers, leaving them with whopping $400 bills.

They said that the service provider change – which they are not in favor of – will hike their water bills, which they can’t afford.

One homeowner said: “I can’t afford no $400 a month water bill at all.”

Southwest Atlanta renters and landlords complained to Channel 2 Action News about the company turning water off for balances renters say was incorrect.

One person said: “I was basically told that Jasber would turn the water meter off to the client if they have a past due bill.

“I didn’t have no other choice but to pay the water bill because they had turned my service off.”

Now, condo owners will be billed directly by Jasber Utility.

Another frustrated homeowner said: “You should really be getting a judgment before you turn the water off.”

Residents showed a copy of their contract with Jasber, which showed that the company had the right to shut the water off.

The HOA says it researched for more than eight months before selecting Jasber.

It comes after a renter was scrambling to find a new place after she was forced to leave her home of nine years because of an abrupt change.

Stacey Matthews said she was just given days to get out of the place after her landlord’s property was suddenly sold.

Residents of OU motel in Norman are being forced to find new homes after the affordable housing option was sold to a builder.

And they were only given a 30-day notice to vacate the property.

Stacey Matthews said: ” A lot of us don’t have a lot of options. We made some of the best friends we’ve ever had here.

“This is it. We became a family.”

Matthews moved into the motel nine years ago with her mum but has been living alone since her mum passed away.

She now plans to get an apartment with her neighbor for the time being.

Another resident Bryan Poindexter said: “Here we are starting all over again.

“I’m a grown man. I live by myself. So, I mean, it sucks, but there’s little kids out there.”
