FIVE people have died following a fiery crash in Florida involving a speeding motorcycle and an SUV, police said.

The incident happened in Estero, around 15 miles south of Fort Myers, at a highway intersection at 8:45 pm on Wednesday night.

A car carrying four people flipped over and burst into flames after it collided with a motorcycle.

The impact of the crash reportedly caused the motorcyclist to end up inside the car, according to local NBC affiliate WBBH.

The victims were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Authorities said the crash happened at the intersection of US 41 and Williams Road.

The motorcyclist was traveling north on the highway as they approached the intersection and the car was turning left from southbound US 41.

The front of the motorcycle hit the right side of the SUV, which then burst into flames.

FHP Lieutenant Greg Bueno noted that speed was a potential factor in the crash and these deaths, according to Wink News.

Authorities have probable identifications for the five victims but announced they would not reveal this information yet, as an investigation has started.
