A HORRIFYING photo shows corpses piled up inside a tent after Hamas terrorists massacred hundreds of revellers at a festival in Israel.

Rescuers found 260 bodies of festival-goers who were slaughtered by gunmen on paragliders and a barrage of rockets at the packed event in Sukkot, southern Israel.

Witnesses said the Palestinian militants cut the power and opened fire – with shocking footage showing terrified ravers fleeing the site.

A graphic photo of bodies piled up was shared by Israeli authorities – and was widely credited as showing the festival massacre.

“We debated whether or not to share these horrific images, but the world needs to know what we are up against,” Israeli officials said.

“They are Hamas terrorists, but no different than ISIS terrorists.

“Same tactics, different names. Butchering families, kidnapping grandmothers. Desecrating bodies.”

More than 1,100 people in Israel and Gaza have been killed since the Palestinian militant group stormed across the border on Saturday – sparking an unprecedented massacre of civilians.

Israel is now massing tanks and troops on the border with Gaza in the town of Sderot – with some 300,000 reserve troops deployed to the south of the country.

US officials expect Israel to launch a ground invasion of Gaza within the next 48 hours, Washington Post reports.

So far, at least 700 people have been killed in Israel while more than 400 are confirmed dead in Gaza – with the death toll set to soar on both sides.

Some 750 people are missing after the festival bloodbath in Sukkot – including Brits Jake Marlowe and Dan Darlington.

Israeli rescue service Zaka said its paramedics recovered about 260 bodies – more than double the number of victims from the Bataclan massacre in Paris in 2015.

Revellers said Hamas terrorists stormed the site in the middle of the desert and “fired in every direction”.

Witness Ortel told local media: “They turned off the electricity.

“Suddenly out of nowhere militants come inside with gunfire, opening fire in every direction. Fifty terrorists arrived in vans, dressed in military uniforms.

“They fired bursts, and we reached a point where everyone stopped their vehicles and started running. I went into a tree, a bush like this, and they just started spraying people.

“I saw masses of wounded people thrown around and I’m in a tree and trying to understand what’s going on.”

Festival-goer Adam Barel told Haaretz: “People were hit. We hid. Everyone ran somewhere else.”

Chilling footage showed panicked revellers hiding in bushes to avoid a hail of bullet from the Hamas gunmen.

They recorded hushed farewell messages to their loved ones as they watched victims being gunned down.

Some stayed put in the undergrowth for more than five hours before rescuers arrived.

One woman, Noa Argamani, 25, was filmed screaming: “Don’t kill me! No, no, no,” as she was snatched by a gunman on a motorbike.

Pictures later appeared of her alive in custody.

In a brave TV interview, her father said: “Gaza also has casualties, mothers who cry.

“Let’s use this emotion. We are two nations from one father – let’s make peace, real peace.”

Over 100 Israeli hostages including women and children could have been taken into Gaza by Hamas – hugely complicating any bid to free them.

Footage seen by The Sun appears to show small children among the dead in the city of Rafah, southern Gaza.

Israeli army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus said some 1,000 Palestinian militants took part in Hamas’s attack on Saturday – which he called “by far the worst day in Israeli history“.

“Never before have so many Israelis been killed by one single thing, let alone enemy activity in one day,” he said.

He likened it to “a 9/11 and a Pearl Harbour wrapped into one”.

Israel was stunned when Hamas launched its multi-pronged offensive on Saturday – with at least 3,000 rockets raining down as fighters infiltrated towns and stormed the music festival.

Panicked Israelis hiding in their homes said militants were going door to door and shooting civilians or dragging them away.

At least 100 citizens were captured by Hamas and abducted into Gaza – with images circulating on social media of bloodied hostages.

Israel also came under attack on Sunday when Lebanon’s Hezbollah launched missiles “in solidarity” with Hamas.

Israeli attacks have decimated several residential tower blocks in Gaza and destroyed a mosque.
