I Dream of Jeannie Star Barbara Eden, 95, Wows Fans at Signing

Barbara Eden has been a fixture in Hollywood since the 1950s, and nearly seven decades into her career, the veteran actress continues to make public appearances.

The 95-year-old I Dream of Jeannie star appeared remarkably youthful as she made her way to a fan convention in Los Angeles on Saturday.

For the outing, Eden opted for an understated but polished look: black trousers, a coordinating long-sleeved top and fashionable wedges.

She completed the outfit with a silver-and-turquoise necklace and matching earrings.

A driver assisted Eden as she got out of the car, after which she stood and walked independently.

The appearance came at the end of a busy weekend for the actress, who attended The Hollywood Show fan convention in Burbank on Friday and Saturday.

Eden was among several veteran stars at the event, including Tatum O’Neal, Linda Blair and Heather Locklear.

In 2024, Eden opened up about the routine she follows to stay active and maintain her health as she ages.

“I used to work out all the time,” she told Fox News.

She recalled taking spinning classes and lifting weights with a trainer before the COVID-19 pandemic brought her more strenuous workouts to an end. “Now, I have a stationary bicycle, and I lift five pounds,” she said.

Eden said she uses very light weights, adding that they are still beneficial for maintaining bone strength.

Walking is another part of her routine, though the actress takes care not to push herself too hard.

“If you can walk briskly, which suits me just fine, that’s good for you. It’s good for your knees and ankles. I find it better than running,” she explained.

Alongside regular movement, Eden has made healthy eating a priority.

“I was lucky to have a mother and father who were conscious of eating well and living. My mother’s mantra was ‘moderation of all things.’ That’s how they lived, and that’s how I’ve lived,” she said.

Eden is best remembered for portraying the title character on I Dream of Jeannie, the beloved television comedy that aired from 1965 through 1970.

She starred as a genie in a bottle who fell in love with her ‘master,’ an astronaut played by Larry Hagman.

She is the only surviving member of the main cast of the Emmy-nominated sitcom.

Eden got her start as a skit actress on The Johnny Carson Show in 1956. She went on to have small parts in I Love Lucy and The Andy Griffith Show before being cast as Jeannie.

The show was inspired by the popularity of Bewitched, starring another beautiful blonde, Elizabeth Montgomery, which had debuted in 1964 on a rival network.

Her costume was a bit scandalous for the era. She was allowed to show her torso, but television standards forbid her from showing her navel. The belly button ban was finally lifted in 1983, when the rule was suspended.

Eden wrote her memoir, Jeannie Out of the Bottle, in 2011, and published a children’s book, Barbara and the Djinn, in 2021.
