A CRAFTY homeowner found a loophole in his city’s building code and was able to build a tiny home in his backyard for a fraction of the price.

A TikToker built a home that was only 120 square feet or 10 by 12 feet in his backyard after feeling that he needed to “own” his own space.

The reason behind this was that it was the maximum size limit for a shed without having to get a permit from his city.

“So I got the idea to turn my shed into my own mini house after seeing them at Home Depot.”

While there were many options to choose from, he wanted to find something that was perfect for his cozy backyard.

The TikToker said he bought a Tuff shed from a manufacturer and hired a contractor to install and add plumbing and electricity.

“They did an amazing job,” he said. “Now I have this cozy little space that I can use as a guest house, office, or even a place to relax.”

The sustainable space is also quite economical, according to the owner. The total cost was just $24,000.

“It is amazing how a simple shed can be transformed into something so special,” he concluded.

In the comments section, many followers begged for an interior tour of the tiny home.

Others flooded the homeowner with compliments.

“I did the same with mine, yours looks more stylish from the outside though,” one person commented.

Some people found the unique living situation humorous.

“Cheaper than couples therapy,” they joked.

A few people mentioned their state has their own laws regarding ADU’s.

“Our ADU laws state we can’t have a kitchen or bedroom,” one person explained.

“The city had to define for me what a kitchen was. Apparently an oven makes a kitchen.”
