A TEACHER of 22 years was forced to retire after living in constant stress at work.
The “well-loved” educator took to TikTok to explain the circumstances which led to her prematurely stepping back from teaching.
Influencer @startingoverat48 discussed how anxious thoughts fuelled feelings of paranoia in her working life.
“I think I was a well-loved educator and I thought I did my job well.
“But I was always anxious.
“I was always worried if I did something wrong or sent an email that sounded nasty or is this parent going to post something on the community page about me?
“Or is this parent going to call the principle for me teaching a certain book?
“There was always a worry!”
The teacher then reveals how watching other similar stories from other teachers on TikTok reinforced her concerns.
Since leaving the classroom, the former educator says she “so enjoys being retired”.
She continued: “I finally have a chance to experience every moment for what it is and it’s not just a series of moving from one thing to the other”.
Reflecting on the start of the academic year, the TikTok user had a few words of advice for those in the classroom.
“I hope you take a few moments for yourself,” she said.
“Cut it off at 2.30 or 3 o’clock and be done!”
The former educator received overwhelming praise for her decision to quit from viewers.
One said; “The job has become increasingly impossible and yet we are held to unattainable expectations.
“I, too, retired early, doctors orders.
“Be well!”
A second user weighed in: “I agree completely! My mind has never been in a state of peace like it has since I left teaching a year ago.”
