A BUSINESS owner has warned that Costco can kick you from their store if you make a particular move with the receipt check.

If you’ve ever shopped at Costco, you know that they always check your receipt before you head out the door.

However, customers do have the right to refuse to show employees their receipts but it may lead to a deeper issue, she explained.

TikTok creator, Ajla Talks took to her page to share this revelation with her followers.

She explained to her viewers that you’re legally allowed to decline to show your receipt to Costco employees.

However, if you do decline, Costco has a right to ask for the customer’s ID and revoke their membership.

Ajla explains that because Costco is a private business, they can make their own rules and take away customer’s memberships if they refuse to show their receipts.

The receipt check protocol is in place to help the retailer with their inventory.

It’s also to help make sure cashiers have accurately processed each item that you’ve purchased.

“It is standard practice at all our warehouse locations to verify purchase receipts when customers exit our buildings,” the Costco website reads.

“It’s our most effective method of maintaining accuracy in inventory control,” the retailer stated.

“It’s also a good way to ensure that our members have been charged properly for their purchases,” Costco added.

The retailer’s website also states that “Costco reserves the right to refuse membership to any applicant.”

“Membership may be terminated at Costco’s discretion and without cause,” the statement continued.

The Sun has reached out to Costco for comment on revoking memberships if they refuse to check receipts but has yet to hear back from the retailer.
