CURIOUS explorers who ventured into an eerie abandoned Sea Life sanctuary have shared creepy video footage on TikTok.

The once cherished tourist attraction, located in Sydney, closed it’s doors to the public five years ago – and has since been left to rot.

Manly Sea Life Sanctuary was shut down in early 2018 after 55 years in operation.

It was home to more than 2000 sea creatures and boasted a 55ft, four million-litre circular tank surrounded by newly air conditioned viewing galleries.

The aquarium also had the world’s longest underwater tunnel in the 1980s after spending a whopping $12 million on its construction.

The spooky footage starts by showing a dingy tunnel deprived of natural light and with algae smothering the roof.

It then cuts to a large festering pond – which appears to be the main tank, with a withered artificial cliff face in the back drop.

Next a slimy stagnant pond appears with a sign that labels it as the entrance to the shark diving experience it once offered.

The building appears to be frozen in time and a heartfelt message – lit up by a torch beam – can be seen scribbled on a whiteboard.

The text hasn’t faded over the years and can still be read.

It says: “Today is our last day, Thank you so much for supporting us for the last 55 years from all of us.”

The rest of the message has been rubbed out and smudged.

The chilling footage has racked up more than half a million views with mixed reactions in the comments section.

Most commentators expressed feelings of nostalgia.

One wrote: “Wait is this abandoned now? I used to go there when I was little”.

“I used to work here, sad” said another.

A third added: “Aww I remember when this closed down in 2018! Pretty sad to see it like that.”

But some were curious, a user who goes by Professor Phill on Tiktok wrote: “Hey bro this is so cool, where do you find these places?”

Another followed suit tagging another TikToker and stating: “we need to find this”.

Abandoned place videos have been sending the internet wild recently with many gaining millions of views.

Earlier this month we told of a abandoned US ghost town which features a quirky house made of bottles.

And we explored a mud-caked ghost town where 20,000 died when devastating volcano engulfed whole city as people slept.
