Democrat Senator Elissa Slotkin (MI) took multiple shots at the progressive wing of her party, referring to Senate colleague Bernie Sanders (I-VT), along with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) as little more than activists.
She unloaded these comments during a Medicaid roundtable in Flint, Michigan.
“I have done as much as I feel like I’m capable of doing to respond in words to what Trump is doing, but I can’t just be an activist,” said Slotkin.
She contends it’s also about actions.
When one person at the forum openly wondered what Slotkin had done for her constituents compared to AOC, Sanders, and Crockett, who have been “screaming, enraged, passionate” since the election, the senator delivered a very frank response.

Aside from downplaying the screeching progressives as ‘just activists,’ Slotkin really hammered AOC by name, according to CNN’s coverage of the event.
She said that working hard to combat the Trump administration’s attempts to cut waste, fraud, and abuse from the federal government requires her to be more than “an activist full time.”
“All of those things require me to be more than just an AOC. I can’t do what she does because we live in a purple state, and I’m a pragmatist,” Slotkin insisted.
