Breaking:FBI says man who drove into Detroit-area synagogue planned Hezbollah-inspired terror attack
A man who deliberately drove his pickup truck into a synagogue near Detroit earlier this March was motivated by Hezbollah, the militant group supported by Iran, according to the FBI’s announcement on Monday.
Before the attack at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township, Ayman Ghazali recorded a video expressing his intent to “kill as many of them as I possibly can,” stated Jennifer Runyan, the head of the FBI in Detroit.
Officials reported that just a week prior to the incident, Ghazali discovered that four of his relatives had been killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon, his country of origin. Ghazali held U.S. citizenship.
The Israeli military confirmed that among those killed was Ibrahim Ghazali, Ayman’s brother, who was identified as a Hezbollah commander in Lebanon.
The U.S. Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, informed a Senate committee that Ayman Ghazali had family connections “to a Hezbollah leader.”
