A TENANT “from hell” has refused to leave an Airbnb after overstaying but she has previously been sued for doing something similar.

Elizabeth Hirschorn, 55 has squatted in a Los Angeles, California home for a year and a half without paying rent.

She had rented the Airbnb for six months, in September 2021, from periodontist Sascha Jovanovic in Los Angeles’ Brentwood area.

A rate of $105 per night had been agreed, so the bill for 187 nights came to $20,793.

Her tenancy was expected to end on March 19, 2022, and was given a few weeks to find a new place, according to court documents seen by the Los Angeles Times.

However, no formal agreement was reached between the pair.

The Harvard grad had gone 540 days without paying rent by using a legal loophole.

Jovanovic, 61, had been found by the city to have committed code violations, so he could not evict her.

Hirschorn’s attorney Colin Walshok said: “The city had never approved the unit for occupancy and that its shower was constructed without a permit.”

Walshok claimed that she was therefore not required to pay rent because of these two issues.

Sebastian Rucci, Jovanovic’s lawyer, called Hirschorn the “tenant from hell.”

Jovanovic sued Hirschorn but she counter-sued him and demanded $100,000 to leave his house.

Court documents have revealed that Hirschorn had committed a similar act before moving into the LA house, according to the Daily Mail.

She had been sued after she refused to move out of a $2.6 million home in Oakland, California that had been sublet, even after the original tenants moved out.

Hirschorn was removed from the Bay Area property just two months before moving into her current place.

The 2021 case saw her dispute cleaning with the man she had sublet the property from, who later moved out due to her “hostile behavior,” he claimed.

She also referenced Covid-19 and said: “I don’t feel safe being forced to vacate with a housing disability and the high risks of Covid-19 complications.”

This case was settled in July 2021 and she also recently settled another dispute over an unpaid $19,000 American Express bill, which she also initially counter-sued.

Hirschorn had also previously lived in Pasadena, California, and in Tuscon, Arizona, with her elderly parents.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Elizabeth Hirschorn’s and Sascha Jovanovic’s lawyers for comment.
